Tried to steal my pride and joy last night... Evil or Very Mad

Trying to cut a long story short, I left my house in my car around 5 pm last night. I live on a one way slip road which is straight and then bends to the left just before my house.

As I approach my house around 6pm, there was a blue Ford Transit van parked in the middle of the road stopping me from moving. After waiting for about a minute and beeping my horn the van moves forward and stops about 10 feet further down and stops again, waits for 30 seconds and then races off down the slip road.

So I pull up outside my house and notice that my gates were open and then I see two thieving scum in my driveway pushing my bike. They spot me and run off in opposite directions after dropping my bike. My Dad was also with me and we gave chase. We managed to catch one of them and 'apprehended' him until the police arrived. Twisted Evil

The scumbag had latex gloves on, dark tracksuit and bolt cutters with him. To get to my bike he had to walk down my driveway [around 10 meters] cut my approved garage door padlock, cut off my approved chain from my bike, snap the steering lock and wheel the bike up my driveway [it also has a Meta alarm/immobiliser and is Datatagged]. As we chased him he threw away his gloves and cutters.

The damage:
https://www.gibbs747.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1194360506_orig.jpg
https://www.gibbs747.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1194360526_orig.jpg
https://www.gibbs747.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1194360540_orig.jpg
https://www.gibbs747.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1194360553_orig.jpg

The bike was dropped on its right hand side so:
Front Mudguard cracked
Front caliper scuffed
Top yoke cracked
Steering lock broke
Bar end scuffed
Front indicator and housing snapped off
Right fairing scuffed
Front and rear brake levers snapped
Footrest snapped
Heelplate scratched and dented
Silencer dented
Rear fairing scuffed.

So my mint condition bike is now anything but.

Police came to take statements etc and apparently there is an organised gang going around the Merseyside area robbing to order. The fact that they scum had a van, bolt cutters, latex gloves and knew exactly what was in the garage and that the house was empty suggests that we were being watched, and is anything but an opportunistic crime.

Sorry for the length of the post but I hope it spells out how determined some people are when they want something of yours... Sad

I hope your restraint of the sub-human scum included punching the living fvck out of him as he 'tried to harm you with the cutters'. To be honest I wouldn't give a hoot, it would be worth a bit of bird to have a crack at one of these vermin.

Oh man he would be strung up in my basement by now with his hands being his back and supported by them in that position.

Then those bolt cutters would be heated up with a blow torch and I would slowly start cutting his parts off.

Starting with his nuts.

Am proper glad they didnt get it mate. I really really want to know how you apprehended them! Wink

Bastards took my mint NSR and my dads T595 (thread about it ages ago) and they knew what was in a locked garage, and we had everything (ground anchor, alarms, the lot) yet they took it with no noise being made in the middle of the night.

Its pretty scary to know we were being watched though.

I would seriously not be bothered about killing someone who does this. If I caught anyone doing anything like this, I literally think I would have a body to get rid of Sad

Anyways, really pleased they didnt take it all together, cos at least it can be fixed mate. When they take your pride and joy away from you, you cant get that back Crying or Very sad

The suspect was admitted to hospital overnight and he was due to get questioned today. I'm awaiting a call from them today. I am taking this all the way and at the very least my Dad is pressing assault charges as his eye was cut when the c*nt hit him.

Serious fucking kudos on catching the bastards in the act, especially given the spurt of thefts as of late, hope you 'restrained' him firmly enough to make him not forget about that shit anytime soon Karma Thumbs Up

Any joy getting any details on the van itself? Hopefully you won't have any problems getting your bike cleaned and straightened up Sad

Nice to know that you got one..

Can you not take thie little scrote to court to claim damages....

Might only get 1p a week, but better than nought.

Perhaps the police should release him back into your custody to get the rest of the groups names..... Thumbs Up

You should have claimed that all the criminals got away.

Then tied up the shit in your cellar and decked him so much. Then kept beating him till he told you who his mates were. Go to look for them where he says... if they are not there, then deck him some more till he tells you the truth. Keep repeating till you find his mates too!

I rated this as cool cause you got him.
Can't he give some information on the gang for a more lenient punishment?
What's the worst he can get by the way?

Yeah I am overjoyed that I actually caught them in the act. Its always the case that you just miss the fuckers.

No luck on the van. At the time I didn't think anything of it, I thought it was someone on a mobile or something. Just informed my insurance as the cost is going to be too great to pay for it myself [so there goes my 2 years no-claims!]

Not sure on that. I'll ask the cops when they phone me, unless anyone here has any advice?

It's such a great feeling to do so etc however if you do kick the shit out of them (My god i'd love too!) However they then turn up the next day to tourch your house or a gang of them pile in your front door...

If they make an attempt to steal your bike you dunno what they'd do.

Rolling Eyes

Still..

Beat the living fuck out of them.

Probably nowt if they cant prove he had his hands on the bike. The fact that the bike never left the premises either will be shite. The cut locks may yeild something, but as he said...gloves.

The worst would probably be breaking and entering, and trespassing. Last time I heard, no one got put in jail for that, or if they were, what...6 weeks?

No, they'll get away, cos theyre absolute bastards.

I dont think two witness statements will do much for the court either. If there was any evidence of the van around......but then, its us being detailed. The police wont give a fuck that his bike got damaged, and could have got taken. They'll see it as a scratched bike, not much worse.

And if the cunt (excuse my french) even attempts to pull anything like GBH or trys anything against you, just find him and kill him, somehow. Hopefully me saying this will lead the police to me instead of you if they ever decide to do a forum search Very Happy

i disagree, he has been caught red handed. He will be charged with attempted theft and if he has any sense he would admit it it in interview anyway to soften his sentance.

Clapping Well done for catching one. Not much of a defence if they're caught in the act.

Hope you get to see this through 'til the end. Maybe a big turnout at the court hearing would be good...

Glad it worked out for you but is this not another thread that proves that the way security devices are approved should be questioned?

How did they disable the alarm? Just rip it out?

No the alarm is fine. They were pushing the bike with the alarm siren going off down my driveway and intended to put it in the Transit, I presume.

I was using an Abus Granit Power and padlock. Can't recall what lock I had on my garage.

Ichy wrote:

There was only my female neighbour in at the time and I'm guessing with the noise of fireworks going off, a lock or two getting cropped wouldn't have drawn much attention. Plus the alarm must have been going off for a few seconds only by the time I arrived.

She did call the police, however, so kudos for that... Very Happy

the fucking thieving little bastards!, its a good thing that you caught them in the act and gave him a good ol beating, i would of hated it if your bike had gotten stolen, its not been long since N30's bike had been stolen also! These days its getting worse and worse, hope everything goes through and the scumbag goes down for it, though with our shitty criminal justice system you never know what they'll get.

Sorry to hear about your bike being damaged, such a shame.
