Hi

I have a few wiring diagrams for older bikes which are in b/w. Tempted to redraw them in colour to make them more readable.

Any software packages anyone knows of that make this kind of task easier, or am I basically going to be stuck with scanning it and colouring it in using some paint package.

All the best

Keith

Not aware of any package geared towards that, but might it be quicker to build the picture in layers? Working on the assumption it's quicker to erase stuff than follow a line, you could erase everything except the wires you want one particular colour, colourise them, then apply that to a master. You could then build up each one in seperate layers until you have the finished item.

Might be overkill, but if you've got 8 wire colours, doing 8 layers might be quicker as it's more erasing than colouring. Just a thought.

Microsoft Visio can do it Thumbs Up I taught myself it one afternoon at work, it a pain in the arse to start with but once you get the hang of it it is easy enough.

Visio is not just for wiring, it does flow charts and other diagrams, there is even a crime scene one and an RTA one.

It would be easier to re-draw this with something like PowerPoint or OpenOffice's equivelant than with a "paint" package like Photoshop or MS Paint.

Reason being that things like stripey wires would be quicker to do, and editability would be better.

Depends. If you spend a bit of time doing neat copys of symbols for stuff like a fuse, switch, relay etc. You can have them all on a file then copy and paste them into your diagram.

It's might actually be worth going through the diagrams anyway, there are often errors on them. I suspect this is deliberate.

Crocodile Clips! That's going back a few years! But it was an ace program and more than up to the job.

Or you could use Visio, it has them built in Wink

Another reason for Visio is that it 'locks' onto stuff, i.e. if you have a bulb symbol with 2 wires coming out of it and you want to move it, it will drag the wires with it. It automatically make it neat too
