Right'o people,

Firstly my headlight went a few days before my accident a month ago, i thought nothing of this and just swapped the bulb.

Today I go to my mates, chill for several hours then go to my bike to go home in the dark.

Of all the bloody bulbs to go the numberplate light bulbs gone.

Firstly is it illegal to ride the bike without that bulb working in the dark? (had to ride it home in the dark anyway just asking in case i need to go out later).

Secondly the fact the bikes 3yrs old and got 17,000 on the clock would the bulbs be blowing due to old age or is it more likely my rectifier is up the duff?

Its the Xr 125 btw I forgot to mention (shouldnt matter for the educated folks as its in my sig)

Many thanks

Flip K

Bulbs blow all the time pal. Think of every little pothole you go over transfers its self to every bulb on the bike so it's amazing they last so long!

If you still think there is a problem, stick a voltmeter across the battery an give the engine some revs, on most bikes it should be about 13 to 14 volts if your battery and charging circuit is healthy.

Change you bulbs to LED's and forget about them Thumbs Up

No I had a lovely buttock massage whilst waiting in traffic earlier.

Fair do's i'll check it if another one blows within a month but hopefully its just paranoia

I take it by not having this on at night the pigs could say the bikes in an unroadworthy condition?

Also are the led lights generic i.e. will fit standard connectors I'd rather not need to hack into the wiring loom if i can help it.

Or do they come as a light unit?

Why??

And yes the police would stop you for riding the bike to save you from yourself as when it's dark and your lights are out surprisingly no one will be able to see you.

Led's are like bulbs you need the correct size for the bulb holder.

Firstly why what?

Pigs, Porkers, Plod

Its all the same just i've picked my personal preference on what i call them, and I dont like to suck pork thank you.

And I have a light out the number plate bulb. All other bulbs are 100% working.

Where could one obtain these led bulbs? And would they drain any more or less juice out of the battery?

LEDs use much less power than incandescent bulbs. You can replace most of your bulbs directly but indicator bulbs will need loads fitted or they won't flash at the correct speed.

try ebay or here https://www.ultraleds.co.uk/index.php
