I've seen some websites including wikipedia stating the new zx6r as being weaker than older models and a torque of only 49 Nm sounds very little. R6 is like 66...
I thought zx6r was like a powerwheelie kind of machine

They took it from 636cc to 599cc.

So it has lost a bit of power yes.

Without sounding like a complete old git...theres more to life and riding than a wheelie.

Who gives a rats ass about whether a bike has a few less ftlbs of torque than another bike. Its swings and roundabouts as its the package as a whole that makes the bike not just the facts and figures.

Well from 49 to 66 is almost adding a third of the juice...And why did they do that? What yearmodels are the 636s then?
EDIT: www.bikez.com states the 2006 version has:
68.88 Nm (7.0 kgf-m or 50.8 ft.lbs) @ 12000 RPM
I must have been given the ft.lbs but they put the wrong units

Svedebo, does any one really care ?

Its still gonna sell cause of what it is.

They could knock the bhp down to 90 and some people will still buy it because they love the zxr range.

When you look at it why did Suzuki keep selling the GSXR 750 when every one else killed off their 7 range, because people loved them.

Most powerful and potent zx6r so far in history been the c model, made beween 05 and 06. It rips the arse from the R6 no problem.

Whichever one you go for your not going to be able to use its power on public roads to its full potential so I wouldn't worry. Wink

Took an 05 out for a testride a few weeks ago. Felt very 'meh' to be honest. It might have more midrange than an R6 but it still felt gutless at anything less than very high rpm.

On about the OP, jumping from a 125 to a mid size bike with handling and power in a different world to what he is used to. Wink

The C1h doesnt seem to be a faster bike Wink

One of my mates has a 03 636 B1h with Akrapovic can and a K&N air filter.

Another one has a 05 636 C1h with a Mircon can, k&n filter and a power comander (thought this hasnt been set up, not even sure if its in the bike yet Laughing )

Anyway, the b1h pulls off quicker and i think wins in the roll ons. Cant decide which is nicer though, bubbly or sharp. Meh.

The C1H/C6F 2005/2006 Ninja rules supreme. The fastest of the 636s Wink It has a different engine to the B series and the 2007 bike is just less powerful and heavier.

The power and weight differences won't make much difference between the models but a lot of people found the rock hard rear shock on the B models to be a big problem on all but the smoothest of surfaces.

In short, the 2005/6 are the best Very Happy

I have an 05-06 model (06) ZX-6R and love it to bits... But I wouldn't say it was a "power wheelie monster". I don't know how much my 15 1/2 stone comes into play but it'll only come up off the power if you are very aggressive with the throttle in 1st and it's in the sweet spot of revs.

Managed a power wheelie in 2nd that carried into 3rd at Oulton Park but that was aided by a hump in the track and me ragging the bike to within an inch of it's life Very Happy. The Ninja seemed to make alot more sense in that environment!

Numbers do not tell the whole story. Buy the one you like riding.

Seriously though, what does it matter? You aren't looking to buy that type of bike, and even if you were you wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. There are lots of other factors such as gearing and stuff which make more of a difference.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I reckon all the 600s are there or thereabouts.

Get the one you like the look of and don't worry too much about the power.

If you do want more power get the Gixer 750.

If you want style get a 749s.

Game Over.
