I've only had my Bandit (GSF600) for around 2 weeks. 99 model, 21k miles.

Over the last couple of days i have noticed that when in 3rd gear, it doesn't pull away as quick as it did 2 weeks ago. When it hits around 5000rpm it kinda revs a lot and doesn't accelerate as quickly.

I thought it might have been me just getting used to the power, but i'm 99% certain theres something wrong.

Any ideas?

Hi

Do you mean that when you hit 5000rpm when accelerating fairly briskly that the revs shoot up rapidly without the bike particularly accelerating?

Is the problem worse going up hill and in higher gears? If so then sounds like the clutch plates are worn out.

All the best

Keith

I'm not even accelerating that hard when it does it. A week or so ago it was hard to hold on when accelerating in 3rd, but not anymore.

It just seems to be 3rd gear. 4th seems fine and pulls away nicely.

I havn't noticed whether theres a difference when going uphill or downhill really.

Maybe its the clutch plates like you say. I think its due a service, so i'll mention it at the garage.

Thanks

Hi

Clutch would be worse going up hill and in higher gears.

Are you sure it isn't you just getting used to the bike?

All the best

Keith
