Right, I've only been abroad twice in my life, so me and my girlfriend have decided we want to go abroad probably at the start of December...

Thing is, we're not looking for anywhere boiling hot or mental (So that rules Ibiza/etc out) but we'd like somewhere warm, with a good (but not rowdy) night life and something that isn't that touristy?

Would somewhere like Croatia fit the bill?

Cheers,

T

Barcelona ?

Spain normally shuts down after November but with it being a city and all i imagine it stays open and isn't going to be boiling this time of year.

The main resorts in Tenerife (eg Playa de Las Americas) will still be quite warm, have a decent nightlife but not be over the top like they would be in summer. What do you mean by "touristy"?

Thought about delaying a fortnight or more and going skiing?

id recommend flights to the carribean and arranging your own accomodation, either before you leave or booking ahead by phone if you can

i went to st lucia a few years ago for 3 weeks, but 2 weeks would have been enough really.

You can stay a few days in soufrier, and a most of the time in rodney bay.

Soufriere is prettier but less to do.

a little north ove soufriere is a little bay with some amazing fish that you can snorkel with, amazing colours

Not worth going for less than 2 weeks tho, due to the flight.

The all inclusive places in the same area cost a fortune, but flights and a litttle guest house run by locals doesnt. Cheaper per night than english B&B.

We went to Morrocco in December a few years ago, perfect temperatures. Never really went above 25, not too hot and not too cold. Great for being by the pool. Good prices this time of year too Thumbs Up

Tenerife is good at this time of year, will still be in the mid teens to low 20's. And most of the bars are still open.

Latvia and Romania (which are nowhere near each other) are pretty interesting, and have a big youth scene. Engrish shouldnt be a problem...

Mr. Green

Seriously, my mates just come back from Cuba, highly recommended.

And my mum and dad have just come back from Algarve, where my dad decided to have a stroke on the 2nd day (my mums 60th) Rolling Eyes

Its currently about 28c in Algarve! Warm enough! Cool

The canary Islands.
Fuerteventura is nice, massive long beach up at corralejo, or try the island of La Palma, i went there 3 years ago, you get the island to yourself, although you will probably need to rent a car.
What about Egypt ? Try a bit of scuba diving.

Valencia, south of Barcelona on the Spanish coast. You can get really cheap flights in to the airport there an there are some great deals to be had on hotels (try booking everything yourself seperately online and see if you come out cheaper).

It's a great city, the old town in the centre is fantastic, nightlife doesn't even get started until midnight, but it's not rowdy, just gets busier and busier as the night goes on.

The America's Cup Yachts and teams are all based in the harbour, worth a look round for interest if nothing else. And it should be warm enough to be ok in December.

Thumbs Up From me!

You would be surprised at the two faced-ness of Ibiza.

We went to San Antonio this year and it was great.

We stayed in the bay area and there were hardly any english in the bars as everyone was out in the clubs.

And theres always the option of a 2 minute relaxing boat drive over to the motherfucking clubs.

But if you scared of losing the girlfriend and shes fit i dont recommend the clubs. Mr. Green Thumbs Up

Cuba. Perhaps not the cheepest option but all inclusive once you get there, and the extras are so inexpensive it don't matter. Scuba diving, all day excursion $25 (£12.50). That included dinner (fried alligator) and beer. Havana is well worth a visit, especialy Tropicana, the blokes in the picture are spinning around! A land of contrast, tourists and poverty. And no yanks. Get there before Castro dies and they let them in and spoil it with Mac Donalds.

Cheers, Stalk

Id recommend tenerife actually. Night life if you want it, fantastic views, cheap enough place to stay, this time of year its very temperate (you only get sweaty if you in the sun for ages doing anything half strenuous) and its not that expensive generally.

I just got back from there Cool

Depending how cheap you wanna do it i cant recommend the clown and bard hostel enough.

www.clownandbard.com

Its gonna be cold this time of year though, but we went march and during the day it was lovely weather.

Gonna be a bitch to avoid the cheap and well run stripclubs full of slovakian hotties though.

Just got back from 4 days in Majorca here, we went to a quiet resort just outside Palma and well away from Magaluf!

It was hot enough to swim in the sea then dry off in the sun after, plenty still open but no rowdies and at night we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Best of all the whole thing (flights, 3 nights half board in a decent hotel) came in at just a shade over £300 for both of us.

Not fancy this then Tobes? Cool

I spent new years 02-03 in Lisbon. A lot has happened since then and Euro 2004. Nightlife in the Biaxa region was good, loads of nice restaurants about and the nearby hills of Sintra (near Cascais and estoril) hold a medieval Moorish Castle. Loads of culture, not too touristy.

Castle of St George is a tram ride (or a nice walk up the hill). I'm pretty sure top gear did a challege there as well - Hammond in a swift against urban trials/bmx rider?

I don't have any pics since they're in my family album back in indonesia. But Lisbon Thumbs Up Well worth a shout. Maybe spend a week there, including a train ride to Madrid, well worth it! Definately good for me Thumbs Up

Maybe do that on your next break?

Temperatures in lisbon were 15-20 degrees in december. Mild and nice.
