I know a 1100cc GSXR oil cooled engine will fit, but what other bigger engines would fit in my 88 slingshot 750 frame Question

As said, Bandit 12.

Keiths bandit 12 has been 'breathed on' by Big CC in Reading, and it makes stupid amounts of power.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

The Gixxer 11 lump can be taken further than the 1200 Bandit lump, but good luck finding a complete running example to buy these days. The bandit 12 lump has the bonus of being easier to get hold of. To be honest a standard 1100K engine in a 750 is brown trousers territory.

Later M/N bottom end for the double output shaft bearing complete with a V+M racing Ex Jamie Whitham Durex Suzuki 750K High compression head running MTC 1276cc pistons should be fun. Just need a big block to complete it all.

Is it wrong that I have spare B12 and GSXR11 engines on the shelf?

Hi

1200 Bandit engines are cheap and commonly available. The GSX1400 engine is very different I think (water cooled for a start).

The later water cooled 1100 engine has different engine mounts.

Stock 1200 Bandit engine will be slightly down on the real power output of the 750, but with an exhaust it will gain a load of power (stock Bandit exhaust is one of the few later bike exhausts that is useless for power). After that you can do as much as you want. 1216 bore kit is cheap (£325 from Roger Upperton on Ebay, +£75 for boring the barrels at the same time). Reprofiled cams, or some GSXR cams. Head work. Slide carbs (I would not recommend this for general road use, throttle is far too heavy for comfort when going any distance).

Think the last time my Bandit was dynoed it made 157hp. That is with a BigCC Racing slightly played with engine, Akrapovic exhaust and slide carbs.

All the best

Keith
