Easy Ways to Lose Weight?

I'm currently doing over 500 miles a week on the SV, and it's starting to get expensive on the old petrol. Currently I get about 120 miles til the fuel light comes on, however, I'm thinking that if I can lose some weight, I should be able to get a few more.

We all know add a pipe, filter and power commander and you're looking at adding a few ponies, but what about losing weight? Are there some simple places I can start looking to lose some weight? I figure with this aiding handling as well, it won't be money wasted.

plus drive more economically probably help more then weight shedding and wouldn't cost anything.

The quicker you can get it into top gear and not rev the backside off it the better your fuel consumption will be but it will not be half as much fun as riding it to the red line and going like the clappers.
I am in dispute with the company I work for and am now driving everywhere at no more than the legal limit fuel consumption has got better and better. I used to get just over 400 miles to a tank in the Transit but am now getting just under 600 by driving steady.

If I ride sensibly then I get almost double the amount of miles to a tank, If I ride fast to work then, well, it costs me a lot more. I only ride sensibly when money is tight though, as it is more fun when you rag it.

The answer is ride conservatively to work and rag the ollies off it when you are out playing

My SV is 172kg dry - The Bandit was 225kg Dry and I think both the same sized fuel tank!? & i got the same miles from both before reserve is needed.
I get really crap miles if I rag it in 3rd gear (SV) 110 miles but If I take it easy I get 135 miles give or take.

Change the gearing on it so that at cruising speed (70mph in your case) the engine is doing less rpm. It'll have a negative effect on your acceleration mind.

Your worried about MPG on a bike, I never have I always smile when I fill up no matter what the bike, both are soo much more economical than the Mondeo.

£10 in the Mondeo will do about 55-60 miles.

Whereas 10 in the ER will do a minimum of about 120 miles. The Z I don't use for commuting, but it still does more than 10 miles per litre.

Luckily, I can't afford to insure my car, so it's sat parked outside and my SV makes me cringe compared to when I fill up the GS, it's just a shame I can't use the GS for motorway riding!

Drill loads of holes in everything you can reach.

That's what they used to do in the 1950's "Drilled for speed!"

Don't bin the fairing, fit a full one. Drag is your enemy. It was considered worthwhile fitting a full dustbin fairing made of beaten aluminium (not the absolute lightest material in the world) to 50cc racers back when there was a 50cc class in the TT races.

a couple of teeth off the rrear sprocket is probably going to be the most effective, riding as consersatively as your can along wiht pre-empting traffic movements. and if you are really really brave sitting 30 foot behind an artic at 56mph will see a large increase in fuel efficentcy - although slightly dangerous and well within the 2 second rule - but on the plus side you will ahve something like a 30% increase in mileage

I've gone down one tooth in the rear when i came to change my sprockets and i cruise at about 500rpm less in top to gear to do 90. With very little adjustment in throttle, i can manage to do 120 to reserve as opposed to 112 - compared by going from lufbra to london and seeing how much further into london i can go on the same tankful (although at that point, town traffic plays an influence). It does work , but sod economy, i want to add more teeth on the rear just for comparison so it becomes more fun and drivable.
