A little story of my day...enjoy

As i woke up with hazy eyes and heavy bags trying to pull my eyelids shut again, i rolled over to see my alarm clock....8:15! Alarm bells ringing in my ears, only 15 mins to have breakfast, shower and get off to my friends then on to college. I then look out the window and see the crisp white grass and roads sparkling like tinsel, the sight is beautiful and i cant wait to get out off to college.

I get ready in time, my usual t-shirt-hoody-leather jacket on with draggin jeans, a face scarf and boots. I step out the door and feel a sharp shot of cold air snap at my lips and the skin feels like its cracking. I soon retreat into the garage and appear to have been tricked by the blue sky and bright orange sun. I swing my leg over my prized possesion and feel that today is going to be something i have never experienced. A swift kick and the small engine ticks into action and i get the rest of my gear whilst i feel a warm sway from the engine starting to brush my face.

As the bike clicks into gear i can already feel the cold attacking my hands and legs. I roll the clutch out and embark on my first proper winters day. I get ever closer to college, but ever colder and my fingers start to dissapear. Within a mile i feel like there is no hands left, i trust my habits and memory of where the biting point is and guess at how hard to break. I finally reach college and rush to lock up and run into the warmth, as i run through the door i feel the heat circulate through my veins and my fingers slowly return to relative warmth.

5 'o' clock swings round, it's pitch black and time to get going. As i swing my leg over for one last time on my first british winters day on a bike, i realise that this is one day i can say i have experienced, one day i have enjoyed, and one day i won't forget.

Now is just the inconveniance of spending my months pay on winter gear

Leaving this morning at half 6 was quite nice, the sun was just coming up and you could see the nice blue sky. The air was fresh to say the least but with inner jacket, winter gloves and neck sock / balaclava combo (very bad for helmet hair ) it was ace to be going neigh on a ton on the straights as all the traffic moved out of the way or were at home in bed.

Apart from a cold crotch and cold finger tips I enjoy the winter

The only thing going through my mind as winter approaches are a few scary words...

A decent fleece and army trousers under my leathers, Alpinestars drystars and heated grips when its reeeeeeeally cold!

I know it's not winter yet! thats why im so skeptical!

Heated grips, I think they are the best investment I made for winter riding last year.

wear decent gloves
get heated grips - or pull over when you are cold and hold them over the exhaust and rev the engine a bit - fills thm with warm fumes
or when on the straights sit on your hand - keeps your left hand warm but difficult to do with your left cos you'll slow down

Yeah today does feel like the first day of proper winter. I got up at 7am and got ready for work in the nice warm house... shirt on, summer jacket on I stepped outside to be greeted by a blast of icey cold air... I was suprised by how cold it actually was as I walked down my driveway and across the road...................




.......................... then I stepped into the van wacked the heater on full, sprayed a bit of deicer on the screen and drove to work all toasty listening to radio one

Im off to invest in a pair of decent winter gloves this afternoon. I can live with cold crisp sunny mornings, what i dont like is rain and the cold mixed.

Apparently this coming winter is a Hale winter. The last one was 85/86.

i would hate winter without mah headed grips! they are great. As long as you keep your hands and feet warm, the rest is easy.
I have bought a pair of Alpinestars SMX4 goretex waterproof boots and they are really doing the trick.

I got to my bike yesterday morning to find the ignition barrel totally frozen!! took ages to get it sorted! bloody thing.

Haha i still have to go to 6th form, apparently according to kiers its college but i know

Bike jacket, gloves office shoes!! and frigging paper thin trousers.

Its all fun and games until it rains like it did

It really is a good experience for all and i find it quite fun, just dont pratt around or that 07 plate beauty will be on its side!
