Funny thing I heard my girlfriend's mum say today. So you know, she has never worked a day in her 40 years of life. One of those benefit fraud warning adverts came on the television (No if's, no buts). At the end of the advert, she announced quite aggresively;

"Yeah but if the guh'munt gave you more money then you wudn't haf to do benefit fraud!"

I had to bite my tongue. Hard.

You're not planning to breed from that little backwater of the gene pool, are you?

I lol'd. Ehhhm, not any time soon. I love my missus though, believe me, aside from her surname, she has very, very little in common with her mother (and the rest of her family).

Or maybe people could be given living wages, then they wouldn't need to go on benefits.

problem with this is if a min wage is made into a living wage then everybody elses wages will effectively go up proportionally too, or people will think why should I study/train for X years to get little more than somebody on a min wage job? , thus effectively everybody else's wages will go up inflation will go up and you are in exactly the same place as before,

the HK system works better ie you get a fat personal allowance about 9K (more than here) and instead of various benefits you get a bigger personal allowance for your circumstances.

So long as the few continue to think it's ok to exploit the many this model will remain.

There needs to be less emphasis on greed.

Why do people think that the goverment owe then anything......

Watching the LWD last night they stopped and they were invited into a families shack and given tea and food, now they had nothing... Yet they happily offered to share what they had with total strangers....

Would anyone in this country do the same if you rolled up at their door...

Possibly because most of their money goes to it in taxes and various fees?

I guess they figured that if they have a choice between getting paid a pittance for working their guts out, or getting paid a pittance for sitting on their arses, the latter is the far saner choice.

Fair point. Thumbs Up

Although I would much rather work for my decent wage so I can live in my nice house, have a nice car and bike etc...

It pisses me off when the dole dossers complain that the council doesnt give them a nice enough house. Why dont the lazy fvckers get of there arses and earn it instead of acting as though hand outs are a right. Twisted Evil

If you're unable to work then that's a different story.

That I totally agree with. If you choose to opt out take what you're given and STFU. A warm hole to sleep in and food in your belly, it's more than most people in this world have.

There was a post not so long ago on a similar vein, where someone said that you should only be able to claim for so long, after that you had to find work.

No find work then no get money....

Could make them then go to certain stores where they would be supplied with the bare basic food stuffs to keep them going. At least doing it that way they would not be able to squander the money of booze and fags.

Seems a dammed good idea.

Any low wages could be boosted up like now with tax credits or paying no tax, should get most of the scroungers off their backsides, once they realise the only way to get life's little joys is to work....

Why work when you can just steal? Or, better yet, get your worthless spawn to steal for you?

it was me actually, this system exists in many US states, 4 or 5 years and thats IT, or Mayalsia apparently has a contribution scheme ie you can only take out if you have put in up to the limit of what you put in , says a woman I lived with who worked in Bayswater.

I disagree with tax credits they keep messing them up, a simpler system is the HK system ie you get a 9400 personal allowance , you have a child? , your personal allowance goes up to 15K, a second child 19K, thus there is no real "benefits" ie money coming out of somebody else's pocket to go into another's its just that you get to keep more of it ,

or you can forego ALL you allowances and go on 15% flat rate (HK cut its tax from 16% flat rate to 15% a few months back).

Our Family income is about 44k and we get tax credits. Laughing

How does that work, we could easily afford to live without them but if they want to hand them out who am I to say no. Laughing

nah I don't mean it that way, I mean it in the way that it is pointless,

ie government takes money off you via taxes , then evaluates your circumstances then gives you (some) of the money back,

where it would be alot simpler just to alter your tax code to 1053L (but I'm not sure if you are an employee though).

Say you up for a January barbie?

Like the Idea. Also the idea you can back out of them.

Touch wood they never got ours wrong. Rolling Eyes

There are many better ways of doing things like not giving cash, but credits to buy certain things, but i guess they would just flog them to someone for less to go and buy the fags and booze. But there are ways round that....

My tax credits only make my wages up to about £12000 a year, but I am quite happy on that and I would rather be out at work, doing a job I enjoy than sat at home doing not very much.
I can pay for the things I want in life, knowing I have damn well earned the right to do so.

It's all a load of shite really, cuz there are people like me who work for a living but dont earn enough to even get a rented flat... Yet it seems its a positive career choice for many girls to go out, get themselve's up the duff then get waited on hand and foot, free house, free money.

It's absurd that the government give's these free handouts to people who have no intention of ever working to pay for something out of their own pockets.

Honestly this country is already half way to shit creek!

For me the simple solution is that if you are claiming benefits then you must do unpaid work in the community or at least go sit somewhere for the 8 hours every other poor sod is at work. No more sitting watching your likenesses on Jeremy Kyle & Springer all day. Evil or Very Mad

I'd prefer to look at a wall for 8 hours than watch that tripe...

Strange but true, you consume more calories staring at a wall than you do watching TV.
