I have been remanising the last few weeks about my old Ducati 749S, its been a while since i sold it, but i miss it so much, the marmite looks the handling the sound.
I think the 1098 looks are too much like every other tom dick and harry bike.
If i could afford and justify it, id buy a 749R

So here an old video of the Red beast when i first got it, its nothing special.

Yea but if i got another one it would have to be a 749R and the 2005+ model so its never gonna happen really.
R's are one of the only Dukes that hold there money reasonably well.

I really wish i was a few feet smaller or they made them bigger as the 748 i liked. The 748 lacked a bit of top end but was a really nice bike to ride just very small.

The 748 is a bit too 90s for me, its a nice bike, but i just like the look and features the 749 has.
The 748 i rode was hard as hell.
The 749 clocks include battery voltage and an outside temp guage.

Tis a lovely looking bike as were most of the mid 90's Dukes, but in the flesh they sound, well not as I thought they would. Neutral

A 916 on shear looks alone, but I dare say that I'd never own one for one reason or another, god damn kids, wife and mortgage. Laughing

Go on, off you go now, go buy another one...

The 749/999 looks seem to be coming of age now. I kinda like them, not as good looking as the 916 ilk, but far more iconic than the new Kawasaki 1098.

Dam right, but i really need to justify it to myself, although today i discovered that the 2005+ S model 749 comes with the 749R engine from 2003-2004 minus the magnesuim heads.

i really really shouldnt

I see a guy in London sometimes on my walk to uni commuting on a 749R, any weather rain, sleet, anything.

Rides it well too, hammers it from every set of lights filters through all the cars blipping it on the down shifts down Pentonville Road, makes it worth getting out of bed to see that. Laughing

The 999/749 series has grown on me more and more. I actually really like them now. But still prefer my monster. Just fitted pazzo levers today although the front brake lever wasn't out of choice Rolling Eyes .

I know they ride well, i toured on my 749 in extreme weathers and used it as an only bike for a few months.

749R's are just hidiously expensive

It does, and its faster, but its just not the same, i pine after it, and it doesnt give you a boner when you clean it.
I sometimes feel Ducati should add this on thier new models, because boy would it get used Razz
