this question has been bugging me for a while now.
Bears eat loads of fur and stuff to clog them self up for winter so that they dont poop. Okay, makes sense. But what happens when they wake up? How come it clogs them up in winter, but they can happily poop it out in summer. Confused or do they have a special technique to get it out? A spoon maybe? Neutral
Thanks to anyone who posts.

Question - I was told that when bears prepare to hybernate they
need to prepare themselves to prevent from defecating. Is this true?

Frankie,

This is true. Bears will eat dirt, pine cones, bark and anything else that
would do the job!

One big strain and I suppose they could push it out. Whilst they are hibinating they aren't consiously trying to crap. The pine cones must be enough to prevent involuntary poop.

Ah I see, Frankie says it so it must be true Laughing

Not think they are eating thinks which will take a long time to digest poss to sit in their stomachs? I am sure bears eat fur all year long, as yet to see one skin a rabbit Wink

Anyway ask stink Wink

Edit: Forgot to say, bears do not actually hibernate in the true sense, like a squirrel for instance, they infact simply go into a deep sleep where there bodily functions are only just below the norm for an animal of their size.

On a side note, this reminds me of a humorous tale.

Good friend of mine many years ago went camping with his family.

His brother, then around 8, became severely consitipated during the holiday, to the point at which he had not had a shit for several days, and was in constant pain. After dosing with laxatives, and hours straining on the bog, he still had failed to lay a cable, and his energy was spent. So, my friend's dad (an eccentric man), took action. He made his son bend over and drop his troosers, then went at his ringpiece with a long handled teaspoon! Shocked

Apparently in the next five minutes, aided by further pushing from his son, his expert excavations yeilded a good haul of chocolate gold, and a story for his grandkids in years to come.

Nice.

Maybe the first thing they do after coming out of hibernation is to have a cup of coffee and a fag.
