Took about 30 mins so not to long.

Roughly cut out my bike:

https://img147.imageshack.us/img147/5210/nakedbikehq1.gif

Then stuck on a new layer and started to draw around every thing, which sucks using a mouse.

https://img207.imageshack.us/img207/1922/gsxrdrawnstylewo2.jpg

Then done this not finished but almost:

https://img340.imageshack.us/img340/3460/gsxrdrawnstyle3oe2.jpg

Not bad for 30 mins, gives a template to try some custom paint jobs on.

Any one want me to do their bike.

Just stick up a pic and I'll have a go.

Get yourself a copy of Illustrator McGee, so much better for doing this kind of work though, wish I'd discovered it earlier.

Meh, you could be old skool and use paint, like what i did! I quite fancy giving that a go. Rather unoriginal, but might be worth faffing about in my free time. Time to dig out my adobe CS3 Suite somewhere which had everything on it!

They're really good, i've tried a bike before & i tend to screw up on the colouring part. Nice one.

Craig, what does Illustrator do differently, i've never used it?

A heck of a lot.

Some of the tools are similar and both programmes utilise a multi-layer basis, but Photoshop uses pixels (blocks of information) while Illustrator is vector based (mathmatical coordinates).

Unsurprisingly, Photoshop is best used for image manipulation, be it relatively high quality, but the main drawback comes into effect when creating large scale work. Isn't really an issue on a 72dpi rgb web screen though.

Illustrator is a fantastic programme for, believe it or not, illustrations. Be it vector based artwork, creating new typography, logos, etc, Illustrator copes far better than Photoshop as it has infinate resolution. A file can be created and then manipulated within a design package (for example Quark or Indesign) to any scale needed, with no pixelation (except for the media in which is producing it). Also, a lot better for getting accurate colours (which is a must when using specified Pantone references).
