Quite a weird thread this, but I was just thinking how little money I have and what things I believe would improve my bike/bike riding experience for the cheapest amount of money.

So forget your 100 quid carbon fibre mudguards, what makes you deeply satisfied inside that you bought it, that didn't affect your wallet too? Can be performance related, cosmetic, clothing.

For me, it was probably a new pair of firm compound renthal grips, cost something like £7.00 and improved the riding experience over the far too thick originals, allowing more feedback.

Regards, Mark.

Ohlins shock. Best mod I've ever bought for a bike, and every (keeper) bike I buy from now on will have one!

A lot of money, but worth every penny!

Not one I bought for myself, but the entire bike (YB100) I found for my GF. It has given me a great deal of enjoyment getting it ready for her. Had her out on it today, she rode it to Squires which is her first time out since her CBT. Entirely the right bike for her.

Cost less than an ohlins shock.

The gear you wear goes with out saying. Thumbs Up
Tires have to be good.
You can change the way the bike handles easy and is the thing I would go
for.It may cost you nothing to do but you can do it cheep most times and
if it does not handle than you will not trust the bike.

Paddy.

Quick action throttle courtesy of a cable tie and some superglue.

Approximate price; 20p (used quite a bit of superglue, but it was cheap superglue).

Handlebar risers. Still not high enough though, but I'd have to extend the cables and brake lines if I wanted to go further.

A couple of hours taking hole saw to the airbox and some snips and a soldering iron to the loom is enough to liberate another 15 ponies on my NSR.

I may have taken it a bit too far when I binned the airbox completely. Laughing

Recently it was the 20 quid i paid for my Philips power Xtreme - i only needed 1 bulb so i keep the other as a spare. For winter, i wouldn't sacrifice anything for night-time vision. Significant improvement in beam spread and length on dipped and high, particularly around the roads of edinburgh - east lothian, since country lanes and the A1 aren't street lit. As i said, sod Xenon bulbs and wiring them in - 20 quid and 1 minute and Thumbs Up

£4.99 for carbon fork protectors Thumbs Up

Just kiddin Smile

Recently? For free, making my throttle adjustments nice and taught again (TheDonUK Thumbs Up )

Changing my spark plugs (£20)

Adjusting my chain Very Happy lol

Massive difference to the bike, a good service does make.

Mod wise, nothing. I havent bought anything for the bike to improve performance.

My RST Voltage two peice leathers in white/black/silver are mint though! Very warm and comfy, perfectly form fitting (which is hard - my nickname is "Thinman" (originally £300, got em for £230 Karma )

EDIT: Forgot - got my carbs balanced by a kid I know at Hull College £10 - biggest difference Ive felt in the bike in a long time...did not realise how lumpy it was before)

Petrol. Awesome stuff. Keep having to buy new ones as they wear out quite quickly though.

Braided hoses and new pads, definitely, plus a proper caliper overhaul, more confidence to go fast if you know you can stop Mr. Green

Cheers

Adjustable rearsets were the best thing I ever added to a bike. Not cheap though... well, in relative terms.
