Well its a foregone conclusion that men are better drivers than women*, but who's the better rider?

Gazing into my crystal ball I predict that this thread will produce;

- lots of generalisations;
- comments on the relative aggression of males & females;
- comments on the physical ability of the sexes;
- no reasonable conclusion.

If I see a woman on a bike I wonder who let her off the chain.

Women belong in the kitchen making me samidge's.

Na, I am yet to meet a bad woman rider, but I have met a load of men who can't ride.

I've ridden with a few decent female riders so i won't slate them at all. Although, that's all i'm going to say - Damofo's prediction seems accurate and it's going to be inconclusive. Mind you, women are good riders if their in their element - i.e. in Selfridges or Debenhams on a blue cross day or christmas sale. They have the uncanny ability to filter and aggressively carve through the crowds to get what they want. Just walk into ANY major shopping centre in the next 6 weeks up to the christmas rush and you'll see what i mean. If women were able to replicate this on the road, then they'll certainly give men and motorists a run for their money Thumbs Up

TBH I think this is a question that will never get answered.

In my opinion its down to competitiveness. I believe a woman could be as good or better as a man in the same way that one man may be better than the next man on the grid.... if that makes sense.. just there are fewer women who actually race/ride fast/drive fast compared to men. Therefore you *could* say that men are the better riders/drivers....... but only on the principle that they outnumber women by a lot.

I have yet to meet a girl who can stunt better than me! But I'm willing to compete against anyone who fancies a try Wink I wouldn't rule out a female stunt rider being better than me..... but as I say theres only a few female stunt riders in the world...so therefore they are outnumbered... but not to say they aren't good.

^^^ that was just relating to stunt riding, but its the same for sports bike racing, off road racing, car racing, rally etc.. I'm sure there are a lot of faster females out there that can go round corners quicker than most of us can... Wink

If that makes sense Laughing

BTW I've seen a lot of bad driving by women on the roads... but also from a lot of men. I don't think its down to whether someone is male or female, but its down to how fuckin dumb some people can be Laughing

I've got some pretty clear views on this...

Number 1: Women "always" claim they are better drivers because they crash less...I think that's a false statement as it only proves they drive slower.

Number 2: There are probably good female drivers, but I have yet to see one doing any proper leaning or mean filtering...

Number 3: There are FAR MORE MALE tarts out there who get their full licence, wait a while and buy a full power supersport bike and haven't a fecken CLUE how to ride.

When in gear or leathers with a lid on, how the hell can you tell the difference between a lady boy and a women? So maybe there are more women giving it the beans than you think?

Very funny Mcgee...I actually know how to ride a bike...I'm talking about people who haven't even had a ride on a ped and they buy the most expensive and flashy bike and ride around in their suit

There was a 200mph challenge in a bike mag a few months back, they got 6 riders to try and break 200 on a ZX12-R.
5 blokes 1 woman, and James Whittam.
Only James and the woman got it over the 200mph mark.
So they seem to be faster.

In spain it's VERY rare to see anyone in leathers, cause they are all tarts, but you can make out if it's a girl or not. Maybe all good female riders are actually transexuals meaning only men are good Mr. Green

How is it difficult to get to 200mph with that bike? I assume it was on a straight. Just duck the hell down, don't be fat and pin it...

Yeah it was on a runway.
Most of them got upto 185/190.
I suppose they bottled it a bit as they got near the end of the black stuff.

You could also put it down to the weight and height of the rider.

Whitam is exactly tall or heavy.

Hi

Statistically women have more accidents than men.

Case proven one way.

But women do a far higher percentage of their travelling on urban roads which are more dangerous.

Case proven the otherway.

Men do their travelling more on the motorways and with a lower number of women there those roads are safer.

Case back to being proven the first way.

Etc.

Realistically there is a hell of a large amount of overlap. If one lot is better than the other, on average, it is by such a small amount that probably 45% of the "better" group are still worse than the average of the "worse" group.

There are some very quick women. A few have appeared in GPs and been quick enough to score plenty of points. such are Taru Rinne.

Not quite. A ZX12R will really struggle to hit 200. You would need to make yourself reall small. Would you fancy adopting this position to squeeze the last couple of mph from the bike?

https://www.traxpics.co.uk/HIDE-20060702-USBC/112%20-%20BlackR1//Small/KJW_1132.JPG

That was on her way to getting a stock R1 to hit 188 (from memory).

All the best

Keith

Is that a challenge? , Wink

back to the OT

2 women I know ride fast,

Fran

and

DB

Both are completely and utterly nuts though , however both seem to have lost their talons after a crash, DB was absolutely unbeatable, however she had an off and lost all her confidence,

Fran had an off and her cloak of invinciblility fell away,

I crash, I get up think oops go home and get me other bike.

Mmm,

I guess neither.
But then again when have we seen a woman world champ in any of the top motor sports... Such as GP, F1, Rallying.
Yes there have been good riders/drivers, but none that have sustained it.
