Honday is a V4 now as they hacked one cylinder off their V5. Yamaha is still inline 4.

Honda V4
Yamaha IL4
Kawasaki IL4
Suzuki V4
Ducati V4

The IL fours both run big bang firing orders to mimic the V4's power delivery.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread but I have never understood how you can have a V5.
Could someone please explain?

3 on one side 2 on the other.

I believe v4 engines are staggered

1 3
..2 4

A V5 would be

1 3 5
..2 4

Thanks Chris-red. Karma

Never thought a V4 would be staggered though.

It's not by much, it's beacause there needs to be room on the crank shaft for each cylinder.

1 1 1 FRONT CLDS

12121 C CRANK

2 2 REAR CLDS

There is no side cylinder.

It's not tranversely mounted. It's mounted the same way as a V4. So it would have 3 at the front and 2 at the rear. Thumbs Up

BingBang firing isn't to mimic V4 delivery, but Vtwin, and was used more in WSB and BSB than in MotoGP

The YZR-M1 was pretty crap until they went to big-bang though.

I never thought of that.
Does that mean V twins are slightly staggered too?

I'm not sure, they would be slightly or the con rods would have to be bent/wiggley to get it to fit but I would have thought this would make them weaker.
