Does anyone know of or can recommend a motorcycle mechanic in the Norwich area?

I only know of the larger shops such as Tinklers, Dave Barkshire etc.. who will charge an arm and a leg.

I have an rd125lc, which was fine one day on the way to work, but on the way back kept jumping out of gear, finding a box of neutrals and not going past 2nd.

Bought it 4th of October and only ran up a 100 miles. It had recently enjoyed a full engine rebuild before I bought it, but the guy I got it form isn't return my calls.

Cheers

Sorry i cant help with a local mechanic.

Sounds like a/some bent selector forks(s) though, Unfortunatley another engine strip Sad

I'd remove the clutch cover and have a look about before going to those lengths though, I doubt it but it may be something simple Thumbs Up

I did replace the gearbox oil as originally I thought that might help. Now however I can't see the oil in the window anymore and the bike seems to want to pull away with the clutch in. Shocked

Well there you go, it's a badly adjusted clutch cable and possibly a badly adjusted chain.

If the clutch won't disengage properly, then changing gear becomes a huge chore.
I'm guessing you can pull the clutch lever in about half way without actually feeling any pressure on it?

Get your gearbox oil to the right level, and consider an evening class on basic motorcycle maintainance.

The clutch was ok when the gear problem started. It is only te oter day I started the the bike and the clutch didn't want to 100% disengage. It was more like 95%.

I am more that capable of adjusting a clutch cable, filling up on oil and rebuilding a top Razz The RD125LC clutch cable however does not have an adjuster on the bracket on the engine casing.

Then why havn't you done so? Rule out some things before you start asking us to tell you you've got bent gear selectors.

Try GB Motorcycles in Cawston 01603 872471 or 01603 871071, I have never used them but I have been recomended them lots of times they are just a bit far out of the way for me.

If they cant help or its too far try Uncle Bucks in Beccles, the chap there is very good and I have used him many times 01503 718126.

I've used GB a couple of times as a breakers. Definitely recommended. I actually bought my VFR from a guy who used to work there.

BTW the phone code for Beccles is 01502 (01503 is somewhere in Cornwall!). But I'll try Uncle Bucks next time around (what's his real name?!). I've just moved to Barsham.

My recommendation in Norwich is Chris at CS Engineering (01603 414666). Friendly, fair prices, and really knows his stuff. Seems to spend most of his time on customs (website https://www.csengineering.fsnet.co.uk/ ).

Hope you get LC sorted c-m.

Thumbs Up
