Been debating this for a while now.

I love riding my k1 gsxr600. But, I'm going to sell up. After a bit of a lecture from friends and family, and a bit of self realisation it's probably the right decision.

I go too fast. Hitting stupid speeds on a daily basis, taking unneccessary risks. Overtaking, just because I can.

It's crap on fuel, it's expensive on tyres, and it loves to be revved, to go fast. The last two comments i like, which is probably the problem. No self discipline.

So I'm going to keep riding the crap xj as a hack, and sell the gsxr to invest a little bit of money into the goose, and pay off some debt.

Plan for the goose is decent brakes, suspension and tyres, concentrate on the fun bits.

Not saying I'll be any better off on the goose, but I must be in less danger of losing my licence or life with 30bhp instead of 110bhp.

Opinions + anyone want a gsxr?

I done the same for the same reasons. Although if i had the money for both a car & bike i'd probably just be strict & restrain myself from riding like an idiot. Makes riding more enjoyable when you have self control.

Did you test ride that 748 in the end? Did that make you more or less keen to go hedge hunting?

just laugh, whats wrong with a 125, a 250, a 400 or a 600? nothing, there all bikes, and at the end of the day someone who has a turbo'ed busa might not be able to ride it just bacause they own a bigger bike doesnt make them a better rider.

I'm gonna be bluntly honest when I say this, take it or leave it, but when you're trying to advertise a bike and openly state in a public forum how it's owner has been ragging it everywhere just because the throttle goes that far is daft and ignorant (not a recommended selling point either Wink ) - that gives all bikers a bad name because of the minority who go post-tonne everywhere because they can't control their throttle(not that you do EVERYWHERE through villages and 50mph limits etc etc, but how you describe your post raises the question).

On the other hand, you're right, smaller capacity machines are more suited for certain individuals. Sure it's all about who has the hugest balls with some people's views to have a thou but if it's not usable power it's nothing more than a clueless plank who can't ride and wastes power.

Thoroughly despise against people's judgement of people by their cc of bike as truth be told plenty of 125, 400 riders etc can eaisly show up tohu riders, if only they had as much IQ as they had cc of bike things may be different. They should keep their opinions to themselves, don't feel put down Thumbs Up

Just my opinion.

Good luck with the sale though.

Tristan

With all due respect at no point have I said that I go flat out everywhere. I don't thrash it from cold, I don't go fast through villages, towns etc.

The point I'm trying to raise is that as a road bike it's flawed. It likes going fast, it is rev happy (what did I expect?) It's a 600 sportsbike.

oli (daft and ignorant - outlining a bikes persona)

That's not something i'd say justifys giving up a 600, you need to re-think.

You could have a bad smash on a RS125 and run away from bikes like a girl, trust me, that XJ isn't your alternative.

The xj isn't the alternative. It bores the fuck out of me - it's my get to work bike.

The goose is for fun. I'm a good rider, and confident in my abilities. The gsxr just entices me to break the speed limit. It doesn't work properly unless it's working...

For everyday riding it doesn't work too well.

Not sure I get the jist of your post Killa?

So the lecture you thought about was because you might loose your licence? I almost lost mine on a 125, so i don't see your point.

If it was about saftey for yourself then i was trying to point out you could have a bad smash on anything you own if you have no self control.

I'm less likely to lose my license on a bike that is more suited to lower speeds. Ie 30bhp not 110bhp.

I'm not going to crash, thanks. Thumbs Up

Well most convictions handed out are for SP30's so unless you have a sixth sense for camera's or you only drive around your area then you will gain points.

And in regards to the last bit, it's only a matter of time im afraid.
