Well, a program like Top Gear for bikes? Currently watching Men and Motors and there's some program on about bikes now but it made me think why isn't there a program that's like Top Gear with bikes for us?!

Would be nice to have Hammond doing Top Gear features on bikes now and then. It would also be amusing for their 'challenges' to involve bikes in some way.

I seem to remember the old format Top Gear had Steve Berry doing reports on bikes which were fairly good from what I remember.

I guess it's cause the bike market is a lot smaller than the car market. Plus there are more cars on the roads than bikes making cars more of a relevant topic.

top gear are so anti bike, did you see last weeks program about the race through london, every mode of transport except a bike, and guess which one would have won Rolling Eyes

I wouldn't watch it if Ewan and Charlie presented it, they don't know F A about bikes.

Although I would if it was done by Hammond and a bike journo.

There's not the market unfortunately though.

Most bike riders also like flash cars, but only a small percentage of car drivers also like flash bikes.

Er . . a pushbike came first and the car came last anyway so thats not much of an arguement.Wink

Funny thing is all three have full bike licenses.

Anyway it would bore the shiyte out of most of the Top Gear viewers.

Isnt it something rediculous that 2% of road users are bikers?

So they wouldnt get the viewers.
5th Gear on channel 5 do bikes every so often. Not so much an article on them, just features. There was that race with the car recently(ish), and there was a trial type thing where some stunt riders did some stunts using the presenters as obsticles.
They also did one on one of the presenters doing the CBT and then bike test. Was that 5th gear?

Only time i have seen a bike on top gear was when hammond tried to put one on the cool board and Clarkson chainsawed it out. Smile
Oh and Neil Morrissy(sp) mentioned them as he enjoys biking

Shows why it doesn't work. Everyone watches Top Gear even though there are no bikes. Nobody watches 5th gear even though there is. If people thought that strongly about it they would watch it. IMO Top Gear would be spoilt if they started featuring bikes.

Bikes Aloud is on men and motors . . . Does anyone watch that? Its shiyte!

Most can get a car to do track stuff like wheel spins slides tec but few can do the basics on a bike.
Also can you imagine " A star on a reasonably priced bike" ? First corner................ call the ambulance. As for the Stig. That smug git would well be punted off.

I cant remember the programme that used to be on a while ago presented by Vicki Butler Henderson and Steve Berry. It was rather pants mind, and on TV, i'd rather see bikes getting ridiculed because you prove your point on the road Thumbs Up It all makes for fun entertainment. Shows like that aren't going to convert people into biking, since view it as a passion, a hobby, not necessarily a necessity . McGee is well up for making a programme like such though.

Most people relate bikes to commuters in London or cruiser/chopper types.

No producer would want to give a decent slot to such an 'insignificant' cause. But I reckon if they did, more would realize how close a prospect of bikes were and buy one.

Which still features cars, thus a car show with entertainment, but a car show all the same.

No. I mean an entertaining car show. Now I'm prepared to agree to dis-agree because I'm not willing to participate in another of your pointless "discussions". Wink

Because we all know what we want, what we are going to buy next and which woman we would like draped over our respective machines.

We must be the worst advert winnable group of people in the world!!!

You know what I mean.

Bikes are either ridden by people who want a cheap form of transport to and from work and dont care what the bike is
or
someone where their bike is their hobby.
So they know what they want next.

In short, bikers are pretty much impossible to advertise too. People who want a new bike know what they want, and know what is out.

Issue is you can a C3 or 206 etc as a family car, not solely for one's enjoyment but which everyone benefits, where do you really strap the wife and baby seat on an R1 or even CBR etc?
