Hello;

Are crashed leathers still good to use after repair? And how much do leather repair people charge hourly roughly for alterations and repairs??

You should ideally replace the armour, however after my rather nasty recently racing-crash I didn't suffer any external bruising, despite having crashed in them quite a lot of times.

Leather repair people will probably charge per bit they are repairing.
Expect about £15-£30 per repaired section for a good person to do it.

Depends (of course). There's a few factors.......quality of the original clothing, quality of the repair, any unnoticed damage...... and more I expect.

Long story short. A few years back I had some Alpinestars leathers and crashed in them. Got them repaired by someone recommended by the local bike shop. They then fell to bits over the next few weeks.

Took them to Hideout who had a look at them. Needless to say the leathers weren't that good originally, were poorly repaired and then some damage had gone unnoticed and not been repaired.

On the other hand I've crashed heavily 3 times in my MJK leathers and they don't even need repairing.

So...could be false economy.

If your leathers are really good a crash will only scuff them. Whistle

Depends on the leathers TBH

depends on the place,

I know 3 places that do repairs,

one charges by number of sides to a panel that needs replacement
£5 for each line of stitching , thus my knackered dainese shoulder has 5 stitches but she'll merge the top into one ie 4 stitches and its £20, add in the elbow bit and its £25.

I wouldnt bother. Even if they are free it's going to cost too much to repair them.

Too badly mangled and probably need panel replacements , which = lots of stitches and lots of work,

worthy if they are free though ,

you can say to people I had this 100mph off and these are me leathers,

though I did it for real a few weeks ago. Mr. Green

When it means paying £400 less than retail, yes.
