due to money constraints, buying a new pc is out of the question, the board wont take anything bigger than a 3400

I think I did fairly well at futureproofing to an extent when I bought the bits and stuck them together, The plan wass to upgrade to win xp 64 but as 64 is still rubbish and vista not much better it left me with linux as thats 64, trouble is nothing runs on that so I kept xp pro

hes snippits of my dx diag.

the board is a neo platinum 754 nforce 3 (manuals in the loft somewhere)

if I have to fork out for a massive upgrade I will be heading towards a barebone system inc tower so be nice.

basicly this plays doom 3 perfectly well, slows on clutter in call of duty when theres lots going off, I'd like something that runs smooth, if a graphics upgrade is a good intrim thing to do could you just recomend me a simple one thats not going to cost the earth yet is better than mine.

big upgrade will be pci express but as my board doesnt support it afaik I would have to go balls out.

Thanks,,
Stu

karma bubs for those with wise options

X1950pro AGP if you absolutely must upgrade the system rather then getting something newer.

I just upgrades from a 9800xt when it died. I chose a Nvidia 7800gs AGP card which was about £100

Thats the one.
I wouldn't say it made a huge difference to how games looked but I can run Counter Strike Source at over 100 FPS on 2 displays with most settings fairly high which suits me down to the ground, and certainly higher than the old card.
