Anyone know if fitting an aftermarket exhaust to my cbr 125 will make a difference? Ive heard it helps it to start accelerating/hold speed in 6th gear

please let me know. Cheers

Makes no difference to the performance it just makes it sound better. If you want performance then the best one is fitting a 14 tooth front sprocket. This will allow it to accellerate quicker and it will also increase top speed as it lets the bike rev out in 6th gear. Basically it makes 6th gear useable rather than just an overdrive. They're only about 15 quid and take minutes to fit.

EDIT: fitting an exhaust can increase horsepower if set up with the carb or decrease it if not set up correctly to your carb, and fueling. Thumbs Up

So he will end up with less horsepower or maybe more, superb bit of info there.

A new exhaust will make very little difference unless the existing system is restricted in some way. Everyone does it at some point but at the end of the day there's no replacement for displacement. Save your money for a bigger bike in the future.

Mine can rev out in 6th gear.... Indicated 85mph, think its closer to 78.

I can't make any claims for performance but this place seem to know their stuff with CBR125s: https://www.wellerracingcorporation.com/

Do lots of flash custom exhausts and full systems which at least look a bit better than the normal bolt-ons.

Most seem to be race pipes, not road legal. The one's for the CBR, performance and GP Moto style look great Rolling Eyes Weedy exhaust for a weedy looking bike.

Save your money, add the £250 to your bike fund. Thumbs Up

Nah I think only one of them is non road-legal from what I can see, a grey straight through one. The rest are legal. And if he wants an exhaust for his CBR let him get one Thumbs Up

Can't agree more tbh.

I'm in the same boat as you, stuck on a 125cc for now...

But don't bother trying to make it faster, its just not worth it.

Put the money towards passing your test!

I seem to remember reading that a micron can increased the performance of a CBR125 by 23% Shocked.

Here we go,

"Micron launched a replacement aftermarket road legal slip on silencer for the new HONDA CBR 125R last month (APRIL 2004)and have received a tremendous response and demand worldwide.
The Micron legal silencer offers customers an amazing 23.5% power increase – while still being on the right side of the law"

https://www.performancemotorcycleparts.com/index.htm?content=http%3A//www.performancemotorcycleparts.com/exhaust_pages/micron/delta_plus_silencers.htm

Weather thats true or not I couldn't say
