Hi
I fitted some aftermarket indicators to my FZ6, all went well, they work fine but now when i press my hazard lights switch they flash once and stop, then the indicators wont work till i switch the ignition off and on again.
Really got me confused....any ideas?

Or possibly the way that the indicators are wired when in hazard mode changes the resistance of the circuit to the extent that the standard flasher can won't run them. I'm assuming that the new indicators don't use the standard bulbs.

That sounds like it makes sense! Your right in saying they dont use the standard bulbs, ill check the bulbs to see what they are.

Thanks

Do the indicators work OK when indicating left or right? If they flash faster or slower than before then the internal resistance has changed and as Phil_P said, in hazard mode this might be screw up the flasher unit.

You have to fit a load resistance to LED indicators for this very reason.

they seem to flash at the normal rate, and work just fine when indicating, just when you press the hazard lights nothing happens, then the indicators stop working till you turn the ignition back off and on again

From that I would say the flasher unit is trying to operate when you operate the hazard swith but just 'sticking' electrically. When you turn the ignition off it frees the flasher allowing it to operate as it should with the indicators.

I'm sure it's to do with the circuit resistance.

If you aren't worried about having hazards then just ignore it. You don't need hazards for the MOT on a bike even if they are fitted. My wings hazard switch died 2 years ago but Honda will only sell me one as part of the left instrument panel at £130 Crying or Very sad so it still isn't done and has been through 2 MOTs like that.
