Has anyone on here used there motorbike co claims bonus on a car policy.

Basically i want to use my 4 years motorbike no claim discount on my car insurance. Ive had my car licence for 3 days.

Is this possible, and has anyone done it

Ive done a search but could not find an answer

If this is possible, I have a 2007 stealth black r1 up for grabs.

Hi

Tesco Car Insurance & Direct Line (I hear that Norwich Union do as well - can't confirm though) do accept motorcycle no claims bonus, although you couldn't use it on both a bike policy and a car policy at the same time.

With Tesco you'll need to phone up though as the online site is too stupid to allow you to put 4 years no claims with a licence that's only 3 days old.

Sometimes it is easier to phone insurance companies up when you have ncb for a bike and are trying to get a car insured (or vice versa) and explain that you have been riding/driving X years claim free and will have both a car and bike on the road.
Whilst they cant always use ncb from one vehicle to another (but can penalise you for having accident in a car when trying to get bike insurance or vice versa) they can discount the cost of the insurance in other ways.

Also by having regular use of two vehicles can reduce your insurance costs.

It is very much down the the insurance companies and the mood they are in if you can transfer ncb between vehicles. It is better of to ring them to ask rather than get the internet to try and understand what you want.

Personally i don't think you'll be able to do it due to having your car license for such a short time.

I'm with Carole Nash for both car and bike, I had 3ncb on bikes but they said they could only transfer 1ncb year onto a car policy as i had only had my car license for jst over a year (actually it was about 2 months shy of 2 years but it makes no difference).
So going by that rule, Carole Nash wouldn't let you transfer any years NCB over as you've not even had your car license a year. Sad

Obviously thats Carole Nash specifically, i'm not sure about other companies so give em' a go. Thumbs Up

Tbh i don't think you can. Talking about this exact subject with my old riding instructor(qualified to teach police how to ride) and he has 7 years ncb on a bike, and can get insured on pretty much any bike for peanuts Very Happy

He told me that most newly pssed drivers get a cheaper insurance quote than him on cars because he does not drive one regularly.

Insurers are insane i tell you,

Brier Thumbs Up
