iPOD and car stereos

Ok,

Call me stupid or lazy but I thought I'd ask you educated lot.

All my CD's are now scratched beyond saving so I'm buying an iPod Classic 80gb model.

How do I connect it to my car stereo? What lead(s) do I need and can I connect it to pretty much any stereo? I'm getting a new Jetta after the new year which comes with an iPod plug in bit so how simple is it to do.

Don't you just plug it in and keep pressing the input button until Aux comes up? That's what it was on my mate's car.

You'll probably get a lead with it.

It'll be a 3.5mm to 3.5mm headphone type jack. I don't have an Ipod, not sure if they have a different type of headphone jack?

You could get one of those wireless belkin things, you plug it in to your iWank Ummm, I mean pod Wink

and tune your radio to the freq output.

Probably easier with the lead though.

Don't think those FM transmitters have very good sound quality due to reception from what i read.

I've got an after market ipod/mp3 adapter which plugs into the back of your head unit & then just connects to your ipod, works great, bit pricey tho.

I bought an Ipod transmitter off ebay for £4, it was the one that fits on bottom of ipod and looks like its part of the ipod.

it worked brilliantly, excellent sound quality and never really had a problem with it.

but if you have an ipod plug then just plug it in there Wink

press the mode/aux button and it'll change to mp3 just like it would when you put a cd in

Yeah we have had an itrip for about 2 years now, (got it off ebay)

Cost about £30 then
Excellent quality. No problem with it at all.
All you do it plug into the end of the ipod, tune it into a 'redundant' radio station and it synchs
Really quick and easy
no leads, no hassle
