Apparently Rossi is a very common Italian surname and he kept hearing airport announcements for "Dr Rossi".

All the best

I read somewhere that it was because he tweaks his bike so much before races and mainly sets his bike up himself Confused

I know that in Italy if you have a normal degree you can call youself "Doctor" so I was wondering if he had a degree in something or other.

The Doctor... In Valentino's own words... "I've always liked the idea of the mad scientist, handling test-tubes and doing crazy experiments. Moreover when you are a professor, you can boast and after I'd won 2 world championships, I thought I deserve this title... I named myself 'Il Dottore'.

There you go. Smile

Isn't it because he rides around in a blue police box that can travel through time and space! Wink Razz Very Happy

Sorry I couldn't resist it.

Or Maybe its because Max Biaggi runs around the pits shouting "Exterminate!"

The idea is to make a name for yourself from something you've done etc. if everyone got the titles they want then we'd get about 50 Rossi's 10's of wheelie machines etc.
Basicly if you want a name you got to earn it.

Sorry for bein a spoilsport Razz

Umm...there's lots of students on here doing degrees and masters and stuff but I'm pretty sure I'm the only one doing a doctorate, so I would be the only "Doctor" on the forum. Razz

Anyway it's not like I'm some newbie crying out for a name - I'm practically one of the old-timers now - just that I don't say anything particuarly interesting. Rolling Eyes Laughing
