Road Riding thoughts

The past few years i havent been going out for rides, like ones where you go out just for the sake of it, in truth its starting to bore me.
If i do ride i like to be going somewhere and even now that doesnt get my pulse racing.

Starting to think i should just keep the TLR as a track bike, and either have no road bike at all and save on insurance or just get something really cheap for those few weekends a year.

Touring and Trackdays is what gets me excited, the feeling of adventure from touring and adrenaline from trackdays, just seems bollocks when you ride on the South easts roads.

In all fairness, after picking the VFR up from Maidstone, I don't think I'd have a bike at all down south if the state of the twisties round there are anything to go by...

I love the roads around Banbury the lack of police make them nice and the surfaces are good.

The one thing that I do like about here in the states that I can't say a bad word against are the twisties like deals gap. Roads are perfectly smooth and have a track like finish and are amazing during the summer. Ok they can be ruined by cars and lorry's but once you look passed that its fantastic.

Seriously one thing you have to do is ride the gap if you plan on coming out here and touring the states. You can go fast or slow its just an amazing road.

Touring is something as well I want to get more involved in.

I'm bored of riding on the road.

If I could afford it I'd do a trackday a week, my NSR has been written off as a Cat C which I've heard can be a bitch to insure and if that's the case I'll track it and put the GSX400 I've got on the road for the time's I go on ride outs and want a Sunday afternoon blast.

It may be a B reg 60bhp 400 but I'm sure it'll be a good laugh.

I got a bit bored of riding on the road in the South, commuting's fun but otherwise it seems barely worth the increased risk of licence loss / injury.

Touring is a different story altogether though, much more fun doing the whole unknown/exploration thing on the far better roads in Europe.

I felt the same after my silverstone trackday, although that could have been because I had to filter home in the drizzle.

It went away after a couple of weeks and I was getting my knee down on the road again. Very Happy

It'll go away soon enough. I'd think you'd be better off with a more track foccussed bike (if you wanted a trackbike) rather than the TL1000R.

Or you could just daytime MOT it, so you can still ride it to and from the track and on the occasional blat. Then have something like a CB500 for commuting duties.

Ive thought about a 749 trackbike, i know them like the back of my hand and if a crashed one came avalible for the right price, id consider it.
But the TL is fine on the track, its got track suspention and handles very very well, the only thing that annoys me is the wide tank.

I'm not sure about the South EAST but I know for a fact that South WEST roads are absolutely top quality. But then we do have the moors and you don't. Smile
