not really a touring question but thought it would get the best response here.

Im after some panniers for my CBR 600 and its a nightmare to take the seat off (because its bolted) so im after some that dont really have to be strapped under the seat. I wouldnt mind doing it once but what I want is to be able to easily remove them because its only for my shopping once a week.
Any one got any good suggestions, or maybe some other type of soft luggage.
Ive got a tank bag and rucksack, but I havent tried riding with my bergen yet.

I have a CBR too , the straps don't go under the seat though , I went touring with a pair of buffalo paniers 40 litres each , since they didn't fit under my seat I just put them above my seat which was fine for 5000kmish , never came off cus they were so heavy, bring less though.

And don't bring a backpack long journies with them are painful and dangerous to have anything hard in them.

oh and get a ton of bungees and that anti slip matting stuff , and gaffa tape I badly scratched me tail pod with me luggage , tape it up where the bugees 'll go.

Sounds like some cheap, basic large panniers are what you need, something like the Oxford first time ones. If you're only going to the shops it's not likely you'll need all the straps secured, add some extra bungees if you're worried.

I used these paniers for Europe and before that effectively lived out of them, pretty good but the rain covers aren't so good and you need to put them on carefully come with shoulder straps and 2 bungees each, which is plenty, also come with some anti slip mat (I got mine for £55 in a J&S sale).
