Hey guys was just toying with the idea of sorting out the ancient and shagged suspension out on my nc30 and having a proper summer with it next year rather than jumping upto a 600 so soon. Unfortunately i know chuff all about what needs to be done.

Ive heard about getting some new springs for the forks and changing the fork oils. Is it easy and is there anything else that needs to be too?

Also found these are they any good?

https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-VFR400-NC30-89-92-Hagon-Progressive-Fork-Springs_W0QQitemZ290038921564QQihZ019QQcategoryZ10460QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem

whats progressive springs do? or are they just giving them fancy names when they are the same as the standard ones?

With the rear is it simply just getting hold of a new or reconditioned rear unit? and swapping the lot? think ive seen some uprated ones in the past for 250 and a reconditioned unit is 150. Does this sound reasonable?

Agree with Vincent, but personally I'd say that the rear shock is more worthwhile upgrade than the front forks.

I'd also say while you're upgrading, rather than go for an OEM replacement like Hagon, go for a full on upgrade like Ohlins. If you shop around, you may find they're just a few hundred more than Hagon, but a lot more adjustable and better to ride.

All depends how far you want to go, just a rebuild of your rear shock will make it feel like a new bike though.

Go aquaint yourself with the M62, and the M6 , get to Warrington and there is this place called Maxton engineering , they'll sort you something out but as said suspension isn't cheap ever,
