How much do you lean when the road is wet?

depends, if its just a bit damp i tend to ride the same as if it were dry.
if its been pissing it down and theres loads of water i try to stay as upright as possible

After wiping out on diesel two months ago I try to go a bit sensible in the wet now. The tyre choice I had made a big difference, so chenged tyres and grip improved restoring confidence.

The downfall is you just can't see the rainbow most of the time untill it's to late so just respect the wet, relax more with the grip and try to stay as upright as possible.

Remember you slide further in the wet, and crashing your bike is a real piss off.

well, I went for a ride yesterday drizzly crappy weather, and I forgot how quickly it got dark plus I met the mother of all fogs, had to follow a tractor for a bit.. it was that bad... now have mud/muck on my helmet and visor and everything though.
Anyway ye the bike felt allover the place and I just started fearing the corners... I think I do need a tyre change....

I try not to lean too much when it is wet, had my first experience of diesel & rain the other night and today, manhole cover & water

If it has just rained, or there is only a small film of water on the surface, then the level of grip is very low, so no significant leaning/hard cornering should be done.

When it has been raining for ages, then there will generally be a good amount of grip, and you can actually go over very far.

I would practise pushing your comfort zone when very wet, as you will be surprised at what you can do. This may come in useful should you need to make an emergency manouver, as you will have the confidence in you.

As said though, damp, greasy conditions are dangerous as fuck.

Oh yeah, and it's not my fault if you bin it.

The difference when it has just rained is astounding. It pushes all the grease and shit up fresh onto the surface, I noticed this the other day. On the way to work, was dry, even popped a nice wheelie. On the way back, it was dark and misty (hadnt rained though) but the moisture in the air had obv done what light drizzle would have. I tried a quick wheelie in the same area (bit stupid really) and fishtailed for about ten/fifteen yards. Shat myself.

Ouch, sounds very painful!!

Near my work is a whole load of building going on and the lorries are making the road very treacherous! It's muddy, always wet and at night the state of the roads is hardly visible. I started taking different routes to avoid this way as it's so bad.

However when I do go this route I have to negotiate a couple of roundabouts and notice that if I lean out even slightly the bike feels like it's starting to slip to the left. Do other people notice this feeling in bad conditions or could I just be being paranoid?

The answer is too much! hence a written off bike! I wasn't familiar with the roundabout layout and despite hanging off, there was a negative camber going in!

When I had mine, it used to feel like it was slipping it a bit on wet corners due to those knobbly tyres

But i tell you what, when it comes to proper winter, you'll be laughing mate - The XR is king on the road where Ice and crap is concerned!

However, on sportsbike tyres, i dont feel so much its slipping, but I seem to feel like i know what the bikes gonna do before it does it. Bit more feedback I think, cos of the position maybe? Not sure. Anyone else feel this on a sportsbike? Doesnt mean to say it doesnt catch me unawares though - the little kwakky bitch

I go all girly and slow in the wet, i hate it, i can't get my head around the fact that there usually is a good amount of grip, but i'm still shit slow, i still ride in the wet, i'm just not quick in it.

I lean too much, skid, and mash the bike up good style.

Though I'm told the secret is to be smooth and that really you can still go around at a decent pace in the wet.

Next time I'll just keep the speed down.

I try to lean as little as possible, especially when it's only been raining lightly. Try to ride so as to use the brakes as little as possible and go easy on the throttle.

Too many people I know have been dropping their bikes recently

If you have good tires and the surface is damp, you have almost as much grip as the dry, thats what i found.
I wouldnt be pushing it on the road though.

Went round a damp (never gets any sun), ground down leaf mulch corner today and the back end tried to go away from me. I was slower than usual (I thought it looked a bit dodgy) and nearly upright. Kinnda shit me up but I learnt about staying loose and calm, its true.

New mantra : Dry road good, wet road bad.

Everything is smooth and many turns are static 1st gear attempts.
