Okay, here's the thing.

I'm currently seriously considering both an iPod Nano and Nintendo DS for Christmas.

What I'd like to know is your opinions on both of the above, and what you could suggest along the same lines as those above (i.e. other games consoles and/or other portable mp3 players).

My thinking on the DS is that I could either get that or a Sony PSP. I prefer the DS to the PSP because the PSP doesn't particularly have any games that catch my eye - I've already played every Grand Theft Auto ever so the two PSP versions wouldn't give me anything new, likewise for Gran Turismo, and no other games have caught my eye. Anthing I've missed? I'm not interested in PSP films because I'm not a big film person.

The DS seems innovative, cheaper, and there are lots of great looking and interesting games there. There are more racing games (which I'm into), a few good adventure ones, and of course Mario. Plus, I have a load of Game Boy Advance games and the DS is backwards compatible.

As for the iPod, I was considering an iPod touch but the capacity is no larger than the Nano which seems a bit lame considering how big it is and the fact that something so good for videos doesn't have much space for video storage. The iPod classic has too much storage, I simply don't have that many songs so there's no point paying extra!

Any other MP3s I should look at? I had a Creative before that was fun but I fancy a change. The new Sony Walkman mp3 looks pretty nice. How reliable are iPods in general? I've heard lots of rumors about the lifespan of them...

Some people here must have some of the above, I'd love to here your experiences with them!

That comes under 'different console' in the poll Razz

To be fair I'm probs gonna get the Nano and the DS regardless unless someone can give me a really persuasive arguement for something else...

I wouldnt have an ipod as every man and his dog has one. I've always liked Creatives offerings. Therefore my choice would be a PSP and a Creative Zen.

I wouldnt get a Nintedo as I hate platform games and that's what they're best at. Thumbs Up

Once you play lemmings on the PSP you will be converted. Laughing

Get a ds, then get yourself an r4 ( https://www.r4ds.com/index-en.htm ) with 2gb micro card and download game roms, you should get just over 50 games on there and change them when you like. If you fancied you could fill the card with mp3's and use the ds as a player.

I have to say I was very fond of the Zune when it came out. You can pick up 30GB versions for the cost of a new nano, and IMO it was brilliant!

My last two players were Creatives, I had the original MuVo and also the MuVo Nano thing which was a tiny black one on a lanyard. Both were good, though I managed to lose the black one in the States Rolling Eyes

The new Creatives don't really catch my attention though, I mean the Stones look nice but I fancy something a bit more sophisticated now.

The 30GB Zunes are dirt cheap currently on account of the 2nd gen's being released. I got myself a black one off Amazon for $140. The screen's huge and the sound is fantastic. Much better than my previous Sandisk player, and a marked improvement over the Shuffle I had before that.

As for the DS vs. PSP, that's just up to personal taste. I prefer the DS on account of the games selection but, I don't own either one.

If you are gonna get an r4 you can get them pretty cheap on gadget sites, I've got them from https://www.clickshop.com/productinfo.php?pid=623 in the past but they take forever to deliver so try somewhere else first.

Download the roms from https://www.nds-roms.com/?act=ndsroms
