125 Virago running problem [EDITTED]

Afternoon all

My virago starts fine, but if I give her any acceleration it feels 'weak' and can cut out. Today I was at the post office (about 10 miles from home), started fine, but when I put her into first gear before taking off, it simply cut out on me (no im not stalling it! ). I had to try about 5 or 6 times before I managed to get enough power to get me going.

Even when im going I have some problems also, the accelerator doesn't seem 'responsive', even when I twist it the full way.

Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry for my piss poor english

I went out this morning to go to work - put the keys in and there was nothing at all - no neutral light, headlights etc and my immobilizer didn't work.

Well, any bike runs on a combination of;
a) fuel
b) air
c) ignition

If you are missing one of (or some of one of) these then your bike won't run right.

Unlikely your air supply has suddenly got so blocked that your engine won't run, so the likely culprits are ignition or fuel.

As the bike is running, then you are at least getting some spark and fuel, and the most likely to be partially restricted is probably fuel.

No point checking for a spark when you spin it, as we know you're getting one, so I'd start with fuelling, and in the first instance point a finger towards the carb or fuel line/filter(if it has one).

As it's dieing when you open her up, perhaps a needle or main jet?

So either a fuse has gone or, more likely, your battery, and/or charging circuit, is knackered.
