YZF R125 vs RS125 07'

HI just seen the new YZF R125 and looks really good...anyone know if it is....i also asked my local dealer and he said theyll be in January and selling at £3000...any ideas how it compares to the Aprilia

Don't think anyone would have compared them as the YZF is not out till Jan! Don't suppose it will be much different than a CBR 125, but maybe bigger, even a TZR 50 makes a CBR look like a childs bike!!Rolling Eyes

Cheaper and about the same performance in stock restricted form as the RS125. Just the RS125 can easily be derestricted to gain 20mph in top speed.

4 stroke fires every other time the piston goes up, 2 stroke fires every time the piston goes up. 2 stroke will make more power than the same capacity 4 stroke. 2 stroke is far simpler to make and far simpler to rebuild. 4 stroke has far more components that need servicing, and often have more common service intervals. However performance 2 strokes tend to give their pistons a hard time so they tend to be regarded as a service item which evens things out.

As you don't know the difference between a 2t and a 4t, what makes you think a Mito will not last and are to much work???

Buy a CBR, or an RS (you can find many an RS on eBay tha has not been ragged Rolling Eyes ) or get a nice Mito that has not been deristricted and usually has a more mature owner.

What kind of a 2 stroke needs rebuilds that frequently? :/ The NSR doesn't require a rebuild till 32k, and thats just what the manual suggests you can run it further I'm sure.

I think you have misunderstood what I am saying and what a stroke is.
4 stroke - the four strokes are as follows

Intake
Compression
Combustion
Exhaust

Only fires on the combustion stroke.

One that has been thrashed! Rolling Eyes Totally derestricted and hammered from day one, has never been warmed up! All you gotta do is look at most 2t bikes on eBay. And is the 32K miles or Kilometers? If it k's that equates to 20k miles

I'm not a student, I work nights, but you are right I am up early it's because I have been ill for 3 days and off work.

Ive looked at the Derbi GPR125 and that looks realy nice but again its a 2 stroke so im not sure about the rebuilds and other maintenance....anyone have any figures on the costs of rebuild and stuff

Ignition occurs every 2 strokes, which is 1 revolution of the crank.

...there's no valve overlap too and also the points are the wrong way around - they're open most of the time whereas they should be closed until ignition. Razz

But i do know that with a full scorpion system if you hold open the throttle and start it an keep the throttle open they backfire like mad ! i will get a video posted up Smile

Thats normally the sort of question you ask the dealer before dropping nearly 3k on a 125.

They should be in your manual mate, If I remember rightly the first was 600miles.
