Copied & pasted from another (Useless Rolling Eyes ) Scooter forum im on.

'Need to change my rollers. Thing is,I've just 'de restricted' my bike last week (took the TWO washers out of the variator),and it does 43 on a flat piece of road and 25ish up a real steep hill and about 49 down abit of an incline. But I'm not sure if I was supposed to change my rollers or not? pull-off seems ok,same as when I was restricted, but possibly a little slower, and it goes alright until it hits the top speed (43 on the flat),but I'm just not sure if it's right or not. My mate, who has a speedfight with zx,gets to his top speed quite abit quicker than me,and also has more topend (obviously due to his nice pipe),anyway,do I need to change my rollers or not? And if I do,whats the 'best' weight to go for.' Thanks guys. Thumbs Up

I wasn't on about you but the guy off the scooter forum.

As if an exhaust pipe is going to give you much of a performance difference.

Compared to the standard, restricted exhaust supplied with the scooter, a new unrestricted exhaust will make quite a lot of difference.

Yes but in the thread they are comparing 2 after market exhaust.
It only makes a difference if the exhasut is restricted.
If you have a de-restricted exhaust and an aftermarket one the difference in power will be unnoticeable.

Race exhausts are designed to increase performance over your standard manufacturer exhausts.

You're basically saying an Akropovic system will not make a noticeable performance improvement over a standard exhaust supplied with a motorcycle, which you would be wrong to say.

On a 2-stroke 50 an aftermarket exahaust can make a large noticeable difference. This is because of the specially designed expansion chamber that the standard does not have, power gain depends how well the new pipe is designed and made.

When referring to performance exhausts with 2-strokes it's mainly down to the shape of the expansion chamber. The exhaust can be tuned to give better mid-range or better top end etc. It's not a simple case of bolting one on and having more power.

With a 'ped, if you managed to boost the power by ten percent (which would be a massive gain for just swapping an exhaust), because you are dealing with such low numbers to start with, even a ten percent increase would probably be pretty un-noticeable.

When you are dealing with 100bhp bikes and boost power by ten percent (10 bhp) THEN you are dealing with noticeable amounts.

On a scooter that can be pretty noticeable because of the lack of power in the first place.
