Hi.

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who is frnakly a little pi$$ed off. Yesterday I rode down with him to Lincon (from leeds) to pick up an X reg RS125 he bought off ebay. The bike seemed fine as far as I could tell, but after 15 miles riding home he noticed a few problems. The bike wont keep a steady idle, (even with the choke on from cold) and even when warmed up if he lets the revs drop the bike just stalls. I had a fiddle about with the ilde screw but that did'nt seem to change a thing.

Later on after about another 5 miles riding he pulled over because the bike just stalled, he was in 4th gear 6000rpm and the revs just died and the bike stalled. After that we couldn't get the bike going again. The starter motor turned, the plug sparked, but it wouldn't catch.

My theory is that the carbs needs a damn good clean, maybe a blocked jet. But i cant understand how the bike ran so well to start with if this is the case.

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Any ideas are much appreciated.

Thanks

Could have been something dirty in the fuel tank so it was fine for the little bit when running but then when riding it sucked some crap into the carb. Take them off give them a clean and out it back together. See if it solves the problem.

I had the same problems when I got my RS125. Must have sat in the garage for yonks before I bought it and the petrol was rotten. Would start up and run with the throttle on but would die when I left it alone. Would also randomly cut out when riding as if no fuel was in it.

Got that sorted and then realised the clutch plates were roasted too!!
