clutch centre holder

i was refering to my manual about changing the clutch plates and it said i need a "clutch centre holder" what i was wondering was do i realy need one of these or is there an alternative caveman approach to it?

Normaly you can take the plates out without having to remove the basket. Not sure what the NSR clutch looks like but I've stuck a 2p bit in between the primary gears before

Rattle gun with the correct castelated socket. Before I bought myself one I used a piece of UPVCU with the 4 holes for the bolts and a large one in the middle for the socket. Leave it long enough so it hits the floor to lock the clutch when you undo the centre bolt.

also called a peg spanner if this helps, i butchered an old socket and put a breaker bar on it
