Cool or not cool? Talking about riding a sports bike here by the way, not for every day commuting and based on looks more than any speed advantage it may or may not give.

There are some safety considerations to be had with speedhumps.

I my race/track leathers have a hump, but everything I wear on the road doesn't.

There's not a don't care option.

It's not a consideration for me when buying leathers at all. If it's there it's there if it's not, it's not. I really don't care.

Humps are definitely not where it's at. I suppose they were semi cool a few years back when the racers started wearing them, but even then on the road there is just no need, and they look stupid.

Have had reports they can also adversely affect observation - prevent you from putting your head back etc.

Had a choice when I bought my leathers, but chose not to get one... they just do not look right on the road..

It becomes a problem when you want to wear a backpack that carries a laptop! I couldn't live with it. sure it looks cool, but there are better options for the road. Mind you, my backpack does the job for me.

I have a speed hump thing in my jacket thort it was cool at first.
but after being slapped on the back wile being called humpy 20 billion time's. And the fact that its quite hard and the thort of falling off the bike and landing on my back has scared me a little.

all in all the novelty has worn off!

I purposely didn't put a "don't care" option as I didn't want people to take the easy option and be on the fence .

The reason I'm asking is because I'm considering either a matching jacket to go with my leather trousers (AGV Sport) which WON'T have a hump, or cut my losses and get a nice shiny new Aplinestars RC-1 2 piece set. I'm not sure on the quality of the AGV Sport trousers I've got and I would have to order the jacket from America without trying it on. So going for the alpinestars set does have its advantages.

Any thoughts?

My leathers have a small hump (Alpinestars SMX2) which isnt that noticalbe and on trackdays when your back gets sweaty, when you go down the straight and put your head down, all the cool air gets pushed through the breathable top and down your back. Which is nice.
I hate the look of the HUGE humps they look really stupid.
