Was looking at the TRF website and decided I might as well join. Then realised you had to pay. Thought it would be a fiver or a tenner but thought it would be worth it to learn new lanes etc.

£40 effin quid they want!! For a poxy year.

Thats the price you pay for having someone share their knowledge ,think of all the maps they bought and had to study,plus you are definately on legal lanes ,or..........do as i did after wasting my £30 (then) with them and do it all yourself,i know loads now and ride without the maps.There will be lots tell you that supporting the TRF is a must, to save what we have ,but, last year they lost us plenty in their so called "fight",id sooner put £30 in the tank and do my own homework,the choice is yours ,oh ,the reason i jacked em in was i could NEVER get out on a ride it was always "full" from the cliquey crew,so if you pays your £30 and get not a single led ride out its pointless Thumbs Down

Heard good and bad about them, think it depends on how your local place is run.

Some have plenty of rides for all levels and are welcoming of new people. Others sound like garyd's local.
In the end, most 'clubs' of this sort have some kind have subscription - we have got a bit spoilt by the range of websites offered for free.

Well in a total U-turn I'm going to join.

Sounds like they are a pretty good lot in my area - checked the forum and the runs seem pretty regular with rides for new members etc.

Will give it a bash, after all, £40 is barely a night down the pub these days.

Will go on some runs with them and hopefully learn some good routes.
