 |
|
bought a GSXR1100 streetfighter and have started stripping the paint work getting ready to spray it up.
Now got to tank, tried rubbing it down but the paint that was on it was still wet, leaving fingerprints in the paintwork.
I got some Nitromors, and went ahead, started bubbling, and found about 100 layers of paint on it.
I have given it the Nitromors treatment 4 times now and still all the paint hasnt come off, im at the bottom layer and god knows what paint theyve used but it isnt shifting.
How the hell am I gonna do this, I need it down to bare metal because its just not gonna work.
Any ideas, before buying a new tank?

Angle grinder?
Shot / bead / gas / sand blasting may be the best bet and certainly more efficient in the long run I suppose. ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

I may just give work a call and see if someone will do it if I run it in later. ____________________ 04 zx10r with mods - 187.4bhp at the wheel! :o |

Go for something loud
I like the orange paint the best.
As before, the shot blasting thing sounds about the best bet, have you got it done yet?
Love the look of the bike.....I think "Phat 'Fighter" describes it nicely ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

Nah, I'll have to wait til the managers fook off, about 4pm!
The orange was meant to be the Ford ST colour, it looks darker, but better I think. ____________________ 04 zx10r with mods - 187.4bhp at the wheel! :o |

Very nice bike! I'd go with blue, but that's just my opinion. I used aircraft stripper and an electric palm sander on my tanks. Dont do the wire brush thing though, if ya don't HAVE to. I found out the hard way that it can leave grooves in the metal that you have to either sand out , or use body filler to smooth out. ____________________ my ride..1995 ZX7
