Well isnt this a rosey fucking situation, i want some advice although i think im just fucked. sorry bare with me

Got home 17:15pm

had dinner.....go out to put the bike away.
I park the bike right near our gravel drive not on it, it's in a private estate, no one comes in really apart from the occupants of houses.

I come outside to put the bike away, open the garage, got to the bike. The bike has some wet crap on the handle bar, i proceed anyway.
Get into the light of the garage and see mud and grass on the bar end.....

The bike has been knocked over onto it's side and picked back up by some cunt.
The damage is, scratches on the right fairing, inidcators broke and the front main fairing is cracked. Havnt seen anything else. Evil or Very Mad

So i go next door, ask the guy if he's had any visitors, he makes out he cant remember her name, but it comes to him, its the cleaner (i later find out this is mary the cleaner and she is round often, so probably bullshit) . So i said, well had she hit it? he said he didnt know, but could ask.

then he mentions this guy was seen with a truck and trailer earlier, his missus who comes home around 17:30 said she saw him, he said something like "im ok love he was just lost, trying to turn around" unbeknown to me this guy was seen at the front of the estate which is a long way from my bike. He has also apparently left the trailer near the entrance, no lights, number plate or anything so my neighbour says its dodgy etc etc, might be stolen.
This threw me so far off the scent i thought it had been this guy..

So i walk back with him, thinking.
Im so so angry, i couldnt think straight, i told him to contact this cleaner and go home.
I coudlnt not do anything so went back around and said im sorry to point the finger but i would like Mary's details.....

He said best this to do is call her, so he proceeds, now looking back i think he called her and when he said hello a few times i could hear the answer phone...i could be paranoid. He then plays with the phone and then she calls......i can hear her from where i was, she sounded cool collected when he asks her if she had hit the bike. She said she hadnt.
By this time i wasn't happy, i know this guy, he seems ok...

I go back home....no one who hit the bike over trying to nick it would pick it back up nicely for me. Someone who was guilty. This woman cleaner is about 8 stone wiff, so it must have been him.
There is an old aged couple at the front of the estate, a widow next door and next door to me two yuppies who wouldnt know about it.

What the fuck....this is Ninja No2, i wasnt happy with it not being my old one, no someones fucked me over.

Crying or Very sad
Sorry if the posting crap guys, im so angry

In reality I don't think there's much you can do but...

Possibly phone the Police and tell them that the bloke next door told you someone was attempting to steal your bike and its all smashed up. Hopefully they send someone round for fingerprinting. Tell the forensics person that the neighbour was acting weird. Maybe they can print his door to get prints and match them to the bike.

Or tell him you have a webcam on the bike and you just need to convert the data, which takes two days (he's old and won't know), to a usable format to find out what went on, see what he says.

Tell him the Police are coming round to question him as a witness, see what he says.

Maybe I just watch too much American TV?

Sounds nasty. So you reckon it's your next door neighbor, but can't prove it, he's being evasive and you don't want to wage an all out war with the street.

This seems to be one of those situations where you can't do much Sad if he did do it, he should not be a cock and own up, but that seems unlikely now he has denied it.

I can feel the frustration - but short of reporting it as criminal damage and getting prints taken off the bike I'm at a loss to what the next course of action could be.

Here, have a hug!

Not that I'm gay or owt.

You do. In England the police don't attend for such things - you have to be speeding for them to show an interest.

Yeah I thought so, I was going to say that you need to put a 'cap in his ass' but couldn't quite work out how a hat inserted in his bum would help.

Perhaps could casually mention to your neighbour that the police have been around and fingerprinted the bike and got some viable prints and dna evidence from it that they're going to run a search on as they've had a spate of vehicle thefts in that area, and you've been told that in line with their new policies for recording and holding as much dna evidence as possible, if they're not on the system from a previous arrest then they'll be kept and recorded in connection with a possible vehicle theft attempt on their database for future reference. Then see how he reacts.

Not sure about the legality of saying that so you might want to check, or whether its a bit much so he could call obvious bullshit, but I'd guess it'd be enough to worry a law abiding person who doesn't have their fingerprints recorded with the police. I can't imagine he'd like the idea of having his fingerprints and/or dna held on a database with the police somewhere and might be more likely to own up if it was him.

Just an idea anyway. Don't blame me if it goes wrong or you get into trouble Smile

I guess it could backfire and frighten him enough not to say anything at all though so maybe the camera idea would be better to try first.

I'd still report it to the police as a theft attempt and see if they can come out and fingerprint it though. Even if they don't it's worth a try at least.

Finger printing only works if the sample is very minimally contaminated and taken within a couple hours of the crime, IIRC the moisture in the air would destroy said prints in 5 or so hours. Plus, that's assuming there is any, that are use-able.

So yes, yes you do.(CSI - so do I) Laughing Thumbs Up

Unlucky Mike, really hope you get it sorted. Karma

When people I know have been broken into they usually send someone round (SOC?) the next day? Seem to do fine finding prints. Matching them is another thing.

Its so annoying!!

If he had of drove in to your car would he have walked off then? Probably not but because its a bike and you probably cant see any paint on it etc then people think oh its only a bike its ok.

I would have a look at his car and the cleaners car too see if you can see any scrapes etc that would line up with the height of your bike. I can see why you livid mate I would be. Get a cheap cctv camera up they are only £30 now. Hope you get it sorted

Doubt the police would fingerprint for this. Some shite tried to nick my bike on Sunday night, I called the police on monday morning, they said "some one will be round but it won't be soon."

I ended up giving details over the phone, realistically there wouldn't be much they could do anyway. I'm just following it up myself as best I can. Rolling Eyes I think its important to report these things, atleast it gets included in the statistics (so they can be massaged later presumably...)

Normally I don't agree with the profusion of CCTV cameras but when its for a specific purpose like this (not just general spying on the populace) i'm all for it.

Its a horrible feeling when it first dawns on you something is amiss with your bike. Mines isn't exactly my pride and joy (sounds like yours is) but it still sucks balls big time.

That is all.

Except: The thieving cocks who had a go at my bike cut the ignition cable but only got away with my security chain and padlock (£10 of eBay) which is ironic. Confused

But i cant even pick my own bike up so I would be no good!

Depends on the surface. There is very few surfaces SOC will lift decent prints off of.

At least according that did my stuff atfter the burglery (Joys of living opposite a Police Station)

Age and knowing people for ages is NOT an indicator of quality of that person.

Penny is a prime example, my dad was reversing and went over one of her chickens, the thing had come into OUR back yard.....

She wanted compensation, and LOTS of it,

In the 80s there were probably no laws against slaughtering your own animals, and so he gave hr £5 (a fortune in the 80s) to go buy another one,

She said it wasn't enough, she said it laid an egg every day, and would do for the next 5 or so years (yeah right) , and expected my dad to fork out £100s for it.

The many free barbies/dinners my dad threw and free erm moonshine brew me dad gave them and 2 months me dad loaned them a car to get to work was all forgotten.

My dad said no , went out to a nearby farm and bought a live chicken , and gave it to her,

Unfortunately my dad is still very trusting these days.

OT

Ichy's trick may work nicely.

True, raggedy edges or things like fresh raw timber that doesn't have a smooth surface won't retain any prints good enough for sampling.

The bike was on tarmac, it's banked ever so slightly towards the stand meaning it's VERY stable. Its a ZX7R to which means you need ALOT of force.
If thought about all of the things he's said and done, and there's no question about it. he tried covering it up with the story of some guy, but he's just a farmer i think who works down a lane near me, he wouldnt have got to my bike.
The estate doesn't have randoms around it, no one would have been near the bike. A car hit it and someone picked it up.....

This sucks ass

Can't you check his car to see if there's any marks /ninja coloured paintwork on it?

When a Ducati hit my bike there was a black smear where the git had hit it.
