RXS 100 help wanted PLEASE!

Hi everyone,
I have an RXS 100 (K plate) totally standard. Have checked sprocket sizes, exhaust pipe/port for carbon build-up, carb settings, air filter but can still barely break 50mph???

Can anyone give me any clues to get her a bit quicker? The bike seems to rev ok, but I don't have another rxs to compare it to.
BTW, I do weigh in at a healthy 15 and a half stone if this helps?

Have you removed the baffle and cleaned it? - I`ve got a RXS, an it does a damn sight more than 50

Have you checked the plug? They don't last especially long and the performance will drop off if it's covered in crap. If in doubt change it, they only cost a couple of quid. Check the colour of the plug too.

Also check the oil pump setting to make sure the bike isn't over-oiling. Giving it a dose of redex in with the petrol might help to shift any muck that has built up.

I weigh a good deal less than you but mine will do 70-75mph (indicated) and will crack 50 very easily so it sounds like yours is a bit sick.

Are you thrashing the tits off it in every gear? You need to.

Also bear in mind that even a slight hill or headwind will massively affect ther top speed.

Ducking down low over the clocks is a worthwhile exercise.

litreally just got off my rxs and i was easily pulling 60 (up the A roads) this morning but going home last night i was barley pulling 45. the reason for this? wind. the weather is horrible at the moment and riding conditions affect the top speed of the bike massivly. As said though rev the tits off it i usually go to 8500 before changing gear theres no other way to get it past 50 else. one other thing though, check your tyre pressures and make sure your brakes arnt binding, mine were not too long ago and i was amazed at the difference a bit more air can make.

I weight about the same and have hit 70 on my rxs, make sure you rev through every gear till at least 8k.

Hi Everyone and thanks for the advice .

I have been tinkering today, checked baffles, carb settings(again), air filter(again), oil pump (which was very slightly out of it's setting?, so have rectified), needle clip setting on 2nd from top(as per haynes manual).

I must admit, I wasn't aware that it needed to be thrashed up so high on the revs in each gear. I will give it some thrashing tomorrow (hopefully noone will be about to see me tucking in with my head down )

Hi guys,
Don't know what I did but it seems to be revving a lot better since my 'tweeking'. The only real adjustments made were the air screw 2 and a quarter turns out, and align the markings on the oil pump. Anyway - she seems to rev a lot smoother (seemed to be a flat spot around 6000rpm before), and pull slightly better. I went out in the dark last night and got tucked in with my head down and pulled a staggering 65 mph (ish) on a 3/4 mile straight. This is by far the best so far, so thanks for everyones support and advice

Most likely the air screw has made a difference, the bike could of been running a bit rich. Flat spots aren't unusual but it may be worth checking the mixture with a colourtune or similar.

TBH 65mph doesn't seem that bad so you might already have it set pretty close.
