Sorry to post this in here when I also posted something similar in General Bike Chat yesterday, but I thought I might be more likely to get a definite answer in here. I can't find anything on t'internet about it.

I am planning my first trip to France by motorcycle (a Honda C90) next April, but I'm worried about the type of license I hold. I have a full car license, and a motorcycle CBT (which enables me to ride up to a 125cc on L-plates). Can I legally ride my bike in France? What about Spain, as I may venture down there too?

My insurance covers me to be out of the country, I'm just wondering about my license.

Also, do I need to get a 'Green card' any more? My parents were on about it but I didn't think you needed one nowdays, I've driven a car in France and no-one told me I needed one then?

im not 100% sure but i think you need to have had a full license of the category of vehicle for over a year before you can ride in France or most other mainland European countrys

I'll have held a full car license for over two years by then - would this cover me for riding my bike?

I thought you needed a full bike licence unless you were riding a 50cc.

I only have ever been once given a green card by my insurers, bizarrely when I took my car over for a day trip a couple weeks ago. They're not necessary these days for Europe.

Was this thread last year - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=93296&highlight=cbt

I think T.C. said in your GBC thread you'd need a full licence - I suspect he's correct.
