Always had my doubts and everytime I recieve an update from "Ben SCAMmel" I get more and more convinced that it is just a ploy to advertise to hundreds of thousands of people.

This month: - £20 Virgin Wines voucher. Rolling Eyes

Quote:
Dear Pipeline Card Member, As you know, petrol is well over a pound a litre across the country so it is vital that we succeed. To do that, we need more members... 500,000 is a great start – but it’s not enough. Virgin Wines – one of our corporate supporters – has offered a £20 voucher for every member that recommends Pipeline Card to a friend or colleague. You can recommend as many as you like actually – but it’s only one voucher per member. We checked the wines out on your behalf – and they are certainly well up to the standard you would expect from a company like Virgin. They also offer some pretty impressive guarantees. This is what their Chief Exec Rowan Gormley had to say... “Virgin Wines supports the work of Pipeline Card. Together, we'll make a difference. So we can all enjoy better value juice in our tanks, and better value juice in our glasses!” Find out more here... (https://www.PipelineCard.org/other_savings.html) Please make sure that we have your correct email address; If it changes you can update it yourself on the website here. (https://www.PipelineCard.org/ChangeEmail.aspx) Please carry on with the recommendations and website links. It’s been a long haul but success is nearer than you think. That's it for now. Don't forget that you can unsubscribe as a member at any time by sending a blank email to unsubscribe@PipelineCard.org or by clicking here. (https://www.PipelineCard.org/Unsubscribe.aspx) Please don't just reply to this email, if you need to contact us, have a look here. (https://www.PipelineCard.org/Contact.html) Best wishes & have a great Christmas. Ben Scammell - Pipeline Card Founder p.s. We have had some problems with our emails lately and - although some of you got our October update twice – many didn’t receive it at all. We won’t risk sending it again but you can find it on the website here. (https://www.PipelineCard.org/updates/071005_update.html)

+1 mate.

I've been on that mailing list since it began and I've had absolutely nothing in the way of helpful information on how to reduce my fuel bill.

Ben was trying hard to begin with I think (well that's the impression I got) but for just over 18 months it's been just bollocks.

Ben - if you're reading this, you're full of shit. And I'm still paying too much for my fuel. So jog on.

So 1/2 million people aint enough to get any sort of discount from one of the major companies..... They are looking for 5 to 7 p a Ltr....
Surely they could manage to get a 1 or 2 p discount with that many members....

Pull the other one.....

Sounds like what started off as something with good intentions is now being side tracked.
You often see the likes of Virgin wine vouchers being handed out for this sort of stuff anyway....

Virgin know that either they dont get used or people end up spending far more......

Mmm, seems a very thin line between spam and messages that are sent to you in relation to fuel discounts and other Pipeline activities.

I was getting his updates for a while, but now just have him as spam. Kept on saying how hard he was working to gety theings done but like you say with so many people signed up you would think you would get at least 3% off the price. Just a load of tosh.

In the words of Clarkson, it isn't expensive at all.

Hell I don't think it's ever been that high to make me complain.

The one thing that bugs me though is how much the government tax it.

Give the guy a break. Do you think the filth running the oil companies are in any hurry to do the working man a favour?

So you get the occasional email. Have you had any direct spam, any indication he's sold his data-base to the marketing vermin?

And if you're going to get anything passed to you from a corporation, it won't get better than Virgin. Richard Branson is the only mega-rich person I have any respect for, mainly because I have direct personal knowledge of his inherent decency. I'll drink his free wine any day of the week. Laughing

It costs you nothing to field the occasional email from Ben. Zip, nada, squat. So lighten up and save your ire for the real criminals, the government and oil corporations. They are the scum raping your pockets. All Ben's trying to do is help us lot catch a bit of a break.

Have to agree with Hetzer here, Pipeline are not asking you to make any kind of donations so for them to get the odd sponsor to help cover the running cost doesnt seem like such a big deal.

With respect, i'd rather my updates were filled with no news rather than unsolicited advertising, which it is. I signed up for a Pipeline Car and it's associated updates, not advertising.

There is a huge difference.

I think the idea is to try and get new pipeline members by inducing existing members to make an effort to sign up new members. Increase the membership and increase the power of representation to the oil companies.

And £20 worth of free wine for doing it? I'm finding it hard to see any downside. Neutral

Quick google found this.

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=620907

Seems Virgin are throwing these £20 coupons around all over the place if you look on google.

Exactly, I apologise for not being clear at the start.

It's a pure scam, think of the commission Ben Scammel would be getting from this.

It's absolutely no wonder he wants more members to join up.

Another greedy, self important spin meister who claims to do something for everybody, but is doing it for himself.

I'm not from here stop referring to it as if I am a yank.

I don't pay attention to fuel prices here at all.

I also don't pay for anything here the only thing I have paid for is my yoshi.

Sometimes it takes 60 dorra to fill up my jeep, oh wait it used to cost me the same to fill up my punto when you convert it so no I also don't notice it here.

That's cause it doesn't cost much. Razz

The only thing you have to worry about is the fact that unleaded pumps are black and diesel pumps are green, at least they were in FL. Laughing
