I bought the bike for £460 off ebay last week and got ripped off as usual,so i plodded on and fixed it ,put it through the mot and full tax and i still get people offering me £130 quid for it Confused so annoying.

someone else offered me £350 for it,but its cost me a lot more than this.
Should i cut my losses and take £350 for it or strip it?or maybe keep it as a spare bike incase im desperate. Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I would keep the bike and use it, but i just cant settle riding it,it just feels all wrong for me.Just not my kind of bike Crying or Very sad

Depends on how much you spent getting it through the MOT.

Personally, I would check bike trader for similar bikes to get a guide price and then take, say, £75-£100 off if I was going to go through ebay. That price would be my start price, none of this 99p business.

I spent about £130 ish getting it through the mot and tax and test.

I wish i did a starting price now.the only people that are bidding are only going up to £20 bids e.t.c..
Do they really think there gonna win the auction if they only bid £50.

I did look in my local paper for prices and they seem to be going for £600 +
But mine isnt a great example Sad

Wait 'till april, put a starting price of what you want for it. Ten day auction starting on a Thursday (so it ends on a Sunday night).

It'll sell.

December with economy issues isn't the best time to sell a bike. Not by a long chalk.

if you dont have a start price did you put a reserve?
if you didnt and someone wins it for £50 its a legal contract and you have to let him have it.

Lots of people will bid at the last minute.

To people offering lower than I want I will usually say "why not bid on it, you never know, you might get it for less" or "I will keep your offer in mind if it does not sell".

>>I called into a garage and they said the slight tapping sound from the engine now and then will definitely be due to needing an oil change.I may have this done before the auction ends IF it makes a decent price.<<
Sounds a bit more serious than just an oil change to me. May be valves needing adjusting or camchain on the way out.

You could always get someone to bid on it for you for what you want the min price to be. However, if they win it, even though you didn't actually sell it, you would still have to pay the expensive auction fees.

Yup your right, but that means leaving it sitting unused for months.

I can cancel the auction before it reaches 12 hours so should be ok there Thumbs Up

You can cancel after the 12 hours as well, it's just harder.
A truck could have just run in to the bike, flattening it; so you wouldn't have a bike to sell as described.

Well, its either that or take the hit and get rid of it for less than what you paid.

There aren't two ways about it, keep the bike for three months (which isn't all that long) or sell it now and be skint for three months. You choose.

.

You could be right but the bike stood for a long time before the previous owner bought it,and he got it running but didnt use it.
The oil looks like its been in there for a LONG time as its really black and feels really thin, and the tapping noise isnt there all the time.
At least ive been really honest about the faults of the bike in the listing unlike the bloke i bought it off.
Ive been offered £500 quid by another bloke last night and he rang me to confirm/get my adress to send me the £50 deposit so ill just hope he is serious.

once this one sell im staying away from bikes altogether until i can afford a good one.(I still regret selling my dtr125)

For £500 you should be able to get a pretty reasonable bike if you're happy to shop around and give a bike a good looking over.

Not necessarily; just report them as a non-paying bidder then close the dispute telling it that you and the buyer have mutually agreed not to complete the transaction. That'll refund eBay fees and the buyer won't be given a non-paying bidder strike. Thumbs Up

Trace the sound round using a screw driver and your ear.

Place the end of the screw driver in a particular part of the engine and press the other against your ear (obviously the handle end on your ear). Then as you move the screw driver round to different parts of the engine you get different noises and therefore trace it round to a certain part.

Sounds mad I know but my Dad showed it me and you really can hear different parts of the engine as you do it.
