Ok, the sums have finally added up, calculations have been completed and the rose-tinted spectacles have fallen away.

We're animals. The only reason we're ever nice to each other is because it's an evolved survival mechanism that's of personal benefit. The bottom line is personal pleasure. Always has been, is and always will be.

Now personally I don't like to behave like an animal, it offends my own sensibilities. Not because I care about anyone else but because it offends me personally. So I won't go around ripping my own off. Not because I give a flying toss about anyone else but because I give one about myself.

I shall continue to give money on a regular basis to the Sally Army. Not because I give a toss about anyone else but because it gives me personal pleasure (it's about control).

I mention the Sally Army because it gives me pleasure to think others might think I'm a nice person because of it. But because I don't care about anyone else it doesn't bother me that I've just revealed my true reasons for doing it.

(This is quite liberating Laughing ).

I shall no longer care about other people being ripped off by other people. It doesn't affect me, so why should I? I shall no longer care about govt oppression and abuse, except where it affects me. I shall no longer care about the misfortunes of others. All of the preceding, except where doing so, and helping in some way, gives me personal pleasure.

In summary, I shall no longer be a slave to the false perception that anything I feel or do is felt or done for any reason other than that of obtaining personal pleasure.

Morality? What pleases me can stay, what displeases me can go. There won't be much change in mine then. More of a subtle change in the perspective by which I see it.

To tell the truth I have absolutely no reason to believe anyone or anything but myself is actually real. That's about as far as Descartes got too, so I'm in good company on that one.

The human race can go fvck itself. I shall attend to myself, my family and my friends. Because it pleases me to do so. If it didn't I wouldn't, and if it stops so will I.

I've known this all along I guess, or at least from the time when I first started thinking properly. But like everyone else (those who are capable of thinking, which is about 5% of the population) I've tried to deny the reality of us, to avoid looking in the mirror.

We're selfish animals, the lot of us. But that's ok, because that's the way we've evolved. And that's why there is no hope for humanity. And the stuff required for us to fundamentally change is beyond our means before we destroy ourselves.

But so what? We all die anyway, so it doesn't matter.

My god, it's a cold analysis, but it makes me feel strangely warm. Like a weight's been lifted (and whatever other metaphors suit).

My toy helicopter is coming next week, and I'm really looking forward to it. Small distractions rock! And it's xmas and the air is full of xmas cheer, and that feels good! For a brief spell most everyone is happy, and that's good, because it makes me feel good seeing others feel good...a self-feeding cycle of pleasure. Pukka! Very Happy Not because I give a toss about total strangers, my pleasure at their pleasure is a completely internal and selfish affair. It's how my brain is programmed by evolution, a survival mechanism. But that's ok, because it feels good, and no amount of intellectual dissection can spoil it if I choose not to let it.

Well, as you were. Laughing

I've never fought against what I am, I've merely observed it through slightly the wrong filter.

The real problem has been observing others through the wrong end of a telescope.

Hell I'm just gonna let some stuff out.

I can't help but help other people that I consider friends and thats my downfall. I have always been told look after number 1. But I can't I nearly failed GCSE cause I helped a retarded mate get a decent grade by lending him some of my work.

Dopey twat copied it word for word.

I lent a mate my bike and he dropped it, and never paid me for the repair work, same with one of my cars. I got it back and the drivers door was sagging, he just said the wind caught it when it was open. Yet I never learn.

That car that hit me head on.

I actually hit it head on, cocked up a corner and went wide and panic braked when I saw it standing the bike up and makeing me hit the car dead centre. If I wouldn't of braked I would of gone around it, not play superman.

It bugs me because I'm a much better rider than that.

The thing that hurts to think about is I offered a very close friend a ride that night, and if she was on the back I could of seriously hurt her Crying or Very sad

On the subject of her I'm to pussy to tell her how I feel.

I hate work, I'm lazy.

God I feel better now.

Mr. Green

You have sought pleasure in helping your friends but the pleasure has been less than expected, or not present at all. A common issue, it's called being 'Mugged Off'. Laughing

A sound common principle is to help others only when you can be reasonably sure that the helping won't cause you any problems if something goes wrong as a result of it.

Im misanthropic to a ridiculous level and cant abide spending time with 99.9% of people as they bore the crap out of me.

And i resent present giving and recieving bar parents/grandparents as i spend a fiver and they spend 100.

As opposed to gf's etc. They spend 60 quid on your present cos they happen to have that much kicking about, so when its their birthday you have to scrape together a lumpy amount for their present.

Hows that helpful... ? If i want something, i'll ruddy buy it.

Bah humbug!

Oooooh and dont get me started on cards

Probably not, but being right won't save you.

Idealism is folly. Please yourself, look after those you love, defend those you know would do the same for you, and be happy. Shit, stick up for the weak when you can, but only when you know it won't be thrown back in your face. 9.999999999999% of the human race are idiots, and you can't argue with that kind of majority...... well you can, but the time could be better spent, given the brief time you have.

Idealism isn't folly if the pleasure of it has caused people to give us laws that protect us from anarchism, with all that anarchism involves (willfull rape, slaughter and pillage).

We got lucky, huh? What a result. Like a bounty of fruit fallen from a tree. Thumbs Up Very Happy

Personally that kind of idealism doesn't rock my particular boat any longer. Anymore than going into a chimp cage and cleaning up all the chimp sh!t would.

And you're absolutely right, the vast majority of people are cretinous twats and are worth little more than slavery. Look out for number one, one's own and one's friends, that's where the greatest pleasure lays in my opinion.

Only way it can be given the nature of our perception.

I've come to realize that not only don't people give a fvck when you're considering their welfare, they actually think of you as a cvnt for doing it.

Nihilistic cynicism, worn almost as if it's a badge denoting an intellectual sophistication and philosophical virility.

It's all about personal pleasure. There are two main types of that: personal pleasure without any regard for the pleasure of others and personal pleasure that enjoys a sharing of that pleasure with others. Both spring from the same well, and there is no greater or lesser moral virtue in either.

What was it I used to say..."The pleasure of the few at the expense of the many". Where the many would do anything to become one of the few, and fvck everyone else.

Well, ok, that's no longer a problem for me. It clearly isn't for anyone else. Footballers, good luck to them. Or not. I don't give a rat's either way anymore. They make not a jot of significant difference to my life. In fact they're nothing more than pixels on a TV screen. Politicians? Who cares, I can duck & dive most of their shite anyway. High prices and rip-offs? Steal from them at every opportunity and screw those who can't.

Look after yourself, your own and your friends, keep your head down and fvck everyone else.

It's going to be a particularly merry xmas this year, and I'm going to make a point of watching starving Africans on the TV while I eat my xmas dinner (if I can find a channel). Hey, if they didn't have the luck to be born white in an affluent country, tough cheese! I could give a sh!t! Laughing There are too many people on the planet anyway (making me pay more for resources too), and somebody has to die to make room. Glad it's not me or mine (result). Thumbs Up Very Happy

If you think about it from an evolutionary perspective, that statement is the polar opposite of fact.

Every single ancestor of yours has been successful enough to live long enough to find a mate and sire a healthy offspring, thats survived to reproductive age and attracted a mate... etc etc

We are the long line of non-fuck ups.

And so is every extant creature on this planet.

Unfortunately in todays day and age, staying alive long enough to get a sprog only equals about 14 years of bitty from the state and the inability to work out plastic socks... but never mind.

Either way, every drive we have in us we have for a reason. And thats because it has always helped. And not to get into the rant of genetic determinism, but theres a reason we have innate instincts... they're innate.

We can rationalise as much as we like that we arent xenophobic and we give a crap about the third world and we can do monogomy without bitterness and not fuck over our fellow man.
But it takes ALOT of conscious battling with your prior programming to subdue it.

Absolutely spot on. We're not flawed, we're exactly what we're supposed to be. To think otherwise assumes the existance of an external morality.

The only rules are the ones we make ourselves. There is no inherent morality in killing or not killing an innocent child, there is only our rule against it. And that is dictated by the load such an act imparts upon our empathy circuit (a pre-programmed survival mechanism). Shame mine is so strong, but it's only been a problem because I've previously chosen to indulge it instead of subvert it. What a prick!

Hey, I'm getting pretty good at this malarkey already. Thumbs Up Laughing

I feel I’ve always been a great person for choosing friends and some of these people are still with me today...the problem is, the selection process, I’ve been stung a few times, the people who now don't matter often linger and that maybe the cause of certain stress.

The more we feed them the more they breed, the more they breed the more they need, the more they need the more they die and this why Geldof should die to.

It’s not my fault, it’s shitty that they make us care the way we do here in the UK. Like trying to make us concerned for things that I can’t help. Like the rain forests in places I can’t even afford to get to. I saw on the news last night they are under ‘threat’ what is the threat? I heard they were under threat back in primary school. So why am I being told? I have £40 to spend at the weekend, my special treat is to poison myself to the point of insanity, eat kebab and shout at friends.
I can’t save the rain forests. Tell someone who can.
