....is what I need. got soggy feet the other night in my non waterproof boots so I need a change. I want to spend under £100 if possible. I've looked at O'Neal and Oxtar and alot of them appeal. Has anyone got any recommendations? How safe/practical is it to wear motocross boots on the road? I'm considering buy MX boots because I do offroad occasionally as well. All help appreciated

A mate of mine swears by MX boots for the protection they offer, but wears Sealskinz socks to keep his feet dry. I used to wear Sidi Black Rain Evo until I broke my foot in them, now I wear Sidi Mega GTX. However there's also Sidi B2 GTX they're sort of half-way between the Black Rains and the Megas, all of which are waterproof but offer less protection than an MX boot.

Now I'm pretty sure the B2s are on offer somewhere at the moment, but as the BCF server is "too busy" again I can't do a search for you, but I hope this helps. Thumbs Up

yeah that does help. thanks! Yeah, it definitely seems like MX boots would give me more protection.And they can save my shin from the dreaded kick start. In the specifications I've found for MX boots it never mentions them being waterproof, which is something I definitely need. Seal skin socks is an idea. I happen to sell them at my work but they're £20+ haha. I'll do a search for the Sidis youve mentioned. thanks Thumbs Up

All of the Sidi race/tour boots (as opposed to MX) offer fairly good shin protection but unlike an MX boot they don't go right up to the knee.

Was just about to stick up a post about the teknic violator's I just bought, but saw this thread.

Got them from Rider's of Bristol, for £115 plus £7 next day delivery, whilst in all the other online shops theyre £150 Smile

To test them out I stood in the bath earlier, and theyre water tight Laughing

Couple things I like about them are the ratchet buckle, to alter the fit around your ankle, and the huge amount of velcro around the calf. I dont have particularly large calfs, but it has loads of room to fit leather trousers inside.

I bought a pair of Oxtars recently, and they are fab. 100% waterproof. OH has a similar pair and he loves them too.

Apparently Oxtar are having to change their name after a court case with Alpinestars, so as a result most places should be offering discounts. My bike shop gave me mine for £80 instead of £120.00

Just been having a look, and Im treating myself to some socks and a hat on pay day Smile Poss gloves....but Im gonna get muffs i think.


As for waterproof...I have normal sidi vertigo's, and apart from violently torrential rain, they havent leaked in normal conditions. And they dry really well if they do get wet Thumbs Up

BUT...the pattern on the bottom wears away uber quickly (had em about three months) and this causes a massive loss of grip, even when just on wet concrete Neutral

Yea i posted that, but now i reckon there must be more than one version of the Sidi B2, I have the goretex ones:

Mine were listed as 170 something, i just happened to have the guy at infinity over the barrel as he wanted me to buy a lid there, paid 145, but now having properly seen how good they are wouldent have regretted paying full whack...

The ones on that site are 130...

They look like Vertabra's, they might just be listed wrong.

Another vote here for Black Rain's.

I think they're last seasons B2 hence the "special offer" this seasons B2s are still Lorica but are Goretex lined. The Black Rains are also Lorica but have Sidi's own waterproof liner in them. Vertigo boots have the polyurethane heel shells.

But I'll admit there is a lot of confusion about Sidi boots in Lorica or leather. In fact most of the websites selling them list the material incorrectly, nearly all of them list Black Rains as leather. The Sidi Megas I bought were listed as Lorica, and when I went to buy a pair at the NEC I found out they were actually leather. I saw the new B2s in the flesh as it were on the Infinity stand, and they are definitely the all black pair as per the picture.
