Tonight looked over the car park and see a gritter parked and the driver staring at a map of his route. I thought, ok it may be getting a little icey out tonight only to see another coming roaring along a slide road belting the salt out as I shoot past him at 100. Good job I was in the outside lane as that stuff gets well and truly thrown out.
So, winters officially here in these them parts.
Small question for you all, whats worse; salt on the road or ice? ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

Beautiful, crisp and frosty this morning, and no work. Sky is orange, no grit as far as I can see... I think I may go on a long spin ____________________ TL1000s, KDX200 |

Was icing up nicely in cleveleys / blackpool area on my way home (4:30), no sign of gritters though, take it slowly, as the roads did look wet.
Was ace when i lived on a school road, gritted daily, if it snowed it was all cleared, if u took a brew and biscuits out for them they did your drive as well. ____________________ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

gritters out here today aswell, i went round by the resevoir today and a gritter was speeding down a narrow lane on MY SIDE OF THE ROAD. i was in the car so high beam/fogs/horn/shouting all happened at once, he slowed to a stop and we edged past eachother, as i went past he spat out his window on my roof.. needless to say that i rang the coucil (on the handsfree) and told them strait away the reg plate and they were awfully apologetic... no lax on coucil tax though ____________________ add me on msn for info on CAT 2 immobalisers, and cheap fitting in the crawley area |

I rode almost in the gutter last night to avoid the grit sprayed by a gritter coming the other way. ____________________ My claim to fame: Austin Vince nicked my pen... |

Its in the mid-upper 70sF here today which is about 21C for you guys. We never have gritters where I live, never have ice on the roads or snow. Its riding season year round here. I must say though, I admire all of you who commute year round on your bikes over there, I couldn't do it. Wet, cold and slippery, no thanks. ____________________ Snooping in from the US, don't kill me. |

I would much prefer to encounter grit on the roads than ice. You'd have to be stupid to think otherwise.
I'm loving having a heated windscreen in the car btw. Best thing i've ever had. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Passed my first gritter the other day on way back from work, opposite side of road and i got suddenly sprayed....must admit it scared me as i wasn't really expecting a wall of bouncing stones coming my way.
Also kinda on topic, i was forced to remove and clean my visor last night after spending yet another dark evening on the M4 trying to work out the distance and location of the hazy lights behind and in my mirrors. When i left this morning i was so relieved to be able to see, got to work 30 minutes later and my visor was covered again, the amount of black crap that came off on the tissue when wiped in office wasn't funny. I can actually see small chips... ____________________ "I dont like my Job anymore - I dont think i'll go" OfficeSpace
