What programs do people recommend to do a total back up of a drive/OS?

Basically once I get my system set up I would like to do a back up of it so that in about 3 months time when its full of rubbish I can just re-load this back up and overwrite the whole system so that its back to a nice fresh system again.

So what software should I be looking at? Ghost disk maybe? or something else?

Powerquest Drive Image, just as good... and happens to be the one we use at work.

Personally I usually just reinstall, because there's usually whole swathes of new drivers etc.

I have to agree with the use of ghost! I find it very easy to use, and does a perfect job every time! Smile

What kind of compression ratio do these Ghost programs do?

I'm after something to compress and backup my MP3 archive (30+ GBs) and I don't have enough cash for stupid amounts of CDR's Razz.

My complete C drive with fast compression is around 1.1gigs. My c drive itself is around 5gigs so it’s not too bad.

I only use normal compression, as im inpatient and cant be bothered to wait.

My experience of ghost is very limited, out of interest can you back up to a cd/dvd and then reload from the ghost image on the cd/dvd?
