Taken from the Pistonheads forum, the last paragraph is the most telling. Have we suddenly been teleported into a dictatorship? Freedom of speech? Evil or Very Mad Confused

"PistonHeads has received a call this morning advising us of a planned fuel protest to take place tomorrow morning.

Details are minimal, but we learn that 20 articulated trucks will be attempting a slow drive around Parliament Square mid morning tomorrow. The aim of this is to bring traffic to a standstill to coincide with Gordon Brown arriving at Parliament for Prime Ministers Questions. It is hoped that the late arrival of the Prime Minister will highlight the fuel protests and encourage MPs to react.

This also serves as an early warning to any PHers who need to be in that area tomorrow morning- it sounds like the traffic congestion will take some time to subside.

The planned protests for Saturday are being looked at closely by the Government and they plan to use anti terror laws and possibly the military stop the protest from happening- in addition to this the NPOIU- National Public Order Intelligence Unit- are also looking at ways of halting the protests before they have started.[/

If this is the case then our country has gone past the point of no return and has probably sleepwalked into a totalitarian faux pas democracy.

The only way out would be for external forces to force out our government, cause there is nothing we can do.

To be fair, anybody with a modern army could invade and conquer Britain Laughing our paltry armed forces are all abroad, and we havent got any defense budget. Come on in!

I've been saying this for many many years only to be fobbed off by doesn't affect me, yet suddenly it affects people and thus they sit up and take notice.

now funnily enough if the drivers are arrested under terrorist offences , then they should take their keys and or give them to somebody else,

as such police suddenly have 2 huge lorries which they can't move stuck, which will cause huge tailbacks which means a crane can't be bought in to lift them out of the way.

Since police will need HGV drivers to drive them away if they get them started , best get cameras out to watch it as I can bet non HGV licenced police will attempt to drive them out of the way, and thus break the law!.

Will they also be locked up for 28 days? arnt you glad it hasn't been extended to 90 days yet if being at a protest gets you arrested as a terrorist.

nope, because all they do is agree a compromise then a few months later ask for an extension , then another , then another.

I feel the worst part about these laws is that there is zero over sight and there is zero complaint procedure for it. Ie if the law is abused , I'm sorry when the law is often abused , there is NO come back against this law.

Police IQ seems to be very low but they know there is no come back , so as with the drugs stop n search (before your BCF time) , they arrest under terrorism so they don't have to give an explaination as to why you are stopped.

This just turns yet MORE people against the police.

which is funny when police are demanding more pay.....

I wonder how many supporters they will get , they won't get mine.

anybody wanna bet a £5 that not voting labour next election will be a terrorist offence?

Why doesn't BCF become an army? I think we should get all 12467 members and ride around parliment flicking our kill switches so we can get some loud backfires Very Happy
That'll scare good old Gordy and I don't think they can arrest over 12,000 people, they've got no where to put us.

Was going to suggest something similar, very quietly organise a bike demonstration as there is no way they could argue with the amount of bikes that could potentially turn up if the idea got a ball rolling.

what do you reckon 12,000 bikes doing burnouts would do if you did it outside parliament?

by the way... i predict anarchy pretty damn soon.

Nah they would just position a cop to record ALL your number plates , and send fines through the post ,

as said locking up happens infrequently now fines are where the government has moved to , ie ID card penalty 1000£ civil penalty it is proposed , which means no legal aid,

HMRC will soon get the power to take money directly from your bank account , so 12000 bikes turn up there 12000 fines get issued HMRC takes the fine straight out of your bank account.

Zanulabour is authoritarian and nazi like but they did do a few smart things.

because anything that opposes the interests of the government = terrorists .(note government interests are the interests of those who have paid bribes to the government yes BRIBES not donations BRIBES).

Zanulabour doesn't care about anything but its core voters , which incidentally are almost entirely the chav scum , check out R1Stu gets £300 a week, effectively tax free, I earn more than this gross take off me tax , and I earn less than this (remember dole money is 115% of income tax, thus no dole money = zero income tax!).

Zanulabour power AT ALL COSTS.

*Sigh*

London is covered in government CCTV cameras (most CCTV cameras in the UK are privately owned).

You step into the ring of Steel/city area which has more CCTV cameras per person than the rest of the world. and has 700+ cops per sq mile.

Have you ever seen a protest? ,

There are always lots of cops with cameras, the last one I witnesses was a sit down outside Mc'ds on Portland Street , out of the window there lots and lots of cops.

Also there might be a firearms officer who hears a backfire and thinks its a gun shot and opens up with his MP5 on you. At which he will be absolved of all responsibility.

As said Sickpup in a "short space of time" was stopped over 100 times and given as many producers.

The protest exclusion zone is to be extended to all the white and grey areas on this map

4 years or so ago was the biggest protest ever seen in modern times for at least 50 years, did it change anything no.

As said the only way to change things in politics is to make something profitable, if suddenly you invented something profitable laws would change for MPs to be able to exploit it, see house prices and property developers,

property developer gives a big donation to government all of a sudden planning permission is given.

Have you ever seen a riot? Get thousands of people to protest right outside parliament about the police state and wait until they start something then fight back properly. A bit of public disorder is what they need to show the citizens aren't going to put up with this anymore.

If they did something as foolish as kill someone it might help show them up as the dictators they are.

I'd say the problem here is the proposed use of large motorized vehicles to protest.

A bunch of stoned teenagers blocking the road is one thing, "20 articulated trucks...attempting a slow drive around Parliament Square" seems quite another. Well, it does to me, anyway.

It wouldn't be reported on the news, police would confiscate non government cameras and erase the tapes (Walter wolfgang) , and they'd just use billy truncheons , baton rounds and water cannon,

Papers like the SUn would report that the protestors started it, CCTV would be edited to show the protestors attacked the police and cabbies would spout , they must be guilty if they got the police involved, it'd all blow over, inquiries would find that nobody was at fault , and show trials would occur on TV where the defendent is Milosovec'd ie is not given a chance to speak and when he/she or their QC tries to present their case the microphones are switched off.

Which is kinda what happened with the poll tax riots.

As said alot of people take what the Sun says as Gospel without thinking about the deeper understandings of such things ,

the Sun ran a pro ID cards thing a couple years back they stated 4 benefits, more security less immigrants, and two other things, they were unable (as with the government) to answer the question how.
