How to be aware, observe and control the vehicle. This to me is the CBT. Anything else taught about kit and road signals is a bonus.
The highway code should be learned by any sane individual wanting to participate in travel on the UK roads. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

That said, it is annoying waiting at a zebra crossing and people just keep turning up; you could be there all day.
They have them on George Street in Edinburgh, on the exits and entries onto the 'round-a-bouts,' its a main shopping drag and usually quite busy... Outside a school? At chucking out time, you have to wait till ALL the kids crossed the road?
That said, its still a pretty daft thing to do. ____________________ Didn't catch anything. |

If it was taking too long I would have got off of the bike and rolled it over the zebra crossing, riding over it just makes you seem like an absolute lunatic! ____________________ I Ride: Honda CBR 400RR.

Tis only the same as a car and getting a provisional licence.
CBT is just about being able to have control of a bike and be able to ride it safely..... So you don't wobble under the 1st car to pass you..
Rules of the road are upto you and should really be known before venturing out....
Makes you wonder about people, has he never used a crossing in his life on foot....
How to use one should be common sense (sic) ____________________ Just because my bike was A DIVVY, does not mean i am...... |

You can't drive a car on the road on your own with just a provisional. And any tit can get a provisional, for a small fee.
They teach you how to control the bike safely, and how to position yourself on the road etc. They should also go over basic road signs you might see. But yeah, get a copy of the highway code if you don't know it! ____________________

I wouldn't complain if they made it so you need to pass the theory test BEFORE you can go out on your own unsupervised.
Then again, i already have both of those... ____________________

Nope not a joke at all, ive had to explain so many things to him that i thought were A) Common sence B) included in "basic training" (cbt)
Taking your theory before your CBT should be made compulsory, people might actualy have a clue about the rules and laws!
actualy mayby an IQ test as well!
thats just wishfull thinking

I didn't get taught much about well.. anything in my cbt. I got shown how a twist and go works and I learnt how to control it.
I already knew how to use the roads as I'd been cycling on the road for a few years before hand, but I probably could have passed without ever reading a highway code.
Still makes me laugh that I was able to just jump on my NSR cause I'd turned 17. ____________________ Past: 55 Sym Jet, 91 ZZR250, 03 NSR125R. Present: 97 ER-5.

If someone barged past me on a zebra crossing i'd hit the killswitch and possibly take the keys. |

When I was doing my DAS they had a couple of people sitting in on there CBT. I was at that point [banned] from answering any questions (I was on lunch)
It really did amuse me that half the time they didnt know a bit of simple common sence - Thats when I could answer. (I felt such a big head at the time lol)
But one boy, 16 proper chavvy kid sat and said nothing, even with questions being given he didnt have a clue.
Needless to say, he went out on his '2 hours course' and was back before I finished my sandwich. He didnt stop at a roundabout, he thought he had the right away - stright away. |
